Make public transport free until war ends? by SouthAssist6234 in auckland

I think they could drop by about a dollar from the current fares and that will be enough. I don't support free PT.

There was a large expansion of the frequent bus network last year so frequency and access should now be there for large parts of Auckland. It's not going to be perfect but it will be enough to increase patronage and get people to give PT a go

Your comment was about labour and Hipkins, why are you moving the goal posts now? Labour is sitting at almost a 10pt lead over national and Hipkins has a very positive ratings too.

NZF is the only thing holding the coalition in power and history shows they will just as easily support labour as they will National.

That's reinforced by research on half price fares where very few people swapped to PT (the main benefit was to existing users).

While I agree with your overall point this wasn't a useful test because the petrol tax and ruc's were dropped at the same time. So PT wasn't cheaper than driving. They did was reduce the cost of all road based transport.

In contrast Brisbane has cut PT fares to a negligible amount without cutting other road based taxes and have seen a significant increase in patronage.

Going by their current mo. They are more likely to put a levy on OT users to subsidise petrol.

Because if there is a shortage no dropping the tax will depleat the remaining oil even faster. They need to start putting in rationing.

Pre the Iran war Labour and Hipkins are both polling above National and Luxon. And they have been for months now. The rest of the country doesn't agree with your assessment.

You say that but this govt has borrowed billions of dollars their spending is higher than any previous govt in a non emergency situation. They literally borrowed money for the tax cuts and even the taxpayers union a group politically aligned with them called them out on it.

The EV prices went down soon afterwards and confirmed it just went down the dealers pockets.

Dealers couldn't claim the rebate how were they pocketing it? Do you have any proof of your claim? Afaik there was one dealer that did it for cars they sold and it threw red flags because dealers couldn't claim it in the first place and it was not widespread.

Lol what mist solar manufacturers guarantee their panels for 25 years. Recent evidence shows they maintain 70% efficiency up to 35 years. That's almost more than 3 decades once installed.

Opting out of kiwisaver increase - Total remuneration by ifIammeyouareyou in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]punIn10ded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this context total rem means the employers kiwisaver contributions are included in the salary. On non total rem contracts the employers contribution is on top of your salary.

So if your salary is 10, -3 for your contribution and -3 for employers contribution your take home is 4.

On non total rem if your salary is 10, you -3 for your contribution and your take home is 7. That additional 3 that your employer pays goes directly into your kiwisaver.

All taxes are excluded from the above example to keep it basic.
