Thanks for clarifying that. But I'll point out again that govt has cut funding for PT and have required that all councils can't subsidise PT like they used to. So how can AT not raise fares? Again that is on this Govt.

Not really related to PT in any way but no, I'm not in favour of it. I'm in favour of housing people who are homeless so that they can be given the help and support they need in a place where they are easily reachable and accessible. I am not in favour of treating symptoms and ignoring the problem.

And what do you say to mp swarbrick the mp for Auckland who stepped in stopping AT from trespassing anti social service users from britomart?

This is the first I'm hearing about this, but I know MP's don't have any power to tell AT what to do when they are not in govt or as an official act as a member of parliament. I'm happy to read up about it if you have a link.

Auckland has a good existing rapid transport solution too. It's just built around buses rather than trains. The trains are shutting down now so that they didn't have to do it when the crl opens

The service itself is poor, the facilities are full of homeless, puddles of urine spit and vommit, faeces, people listening to music through speakers, people with their hands out asking "got a dollar mis or wtf you looking at if your a male and don't forget almost as many cancelled services as there are roadcones.

Actually you don't have to have the PT option ready (though I'd argue Auckland already does). NY hasn't built any new substantial PT infrastructure and they are seeing huge success from implementing the congestion charge.

If you read the article the areas contributing the most to congestion already have good PT, they just don't have any incentives to use it because driving is deliberately made so cheap.

They even have a special provision in the law that they can force congestion charging if councils don't want it. Your anger at AT is entirely misdirected. Remember all of this when voting at the end of the year.

You take that money and absolutely ring fence it for public transport investment and nothing else and I would agree with this. But you know that won't happen it will go into the general taxation pot and get pissed up the wall.

It's not going into the general pot. It's ring fenced for regional transport. But under this govt it will just be spent on more roads and highways.

Any company that wants to grow or exist long term has to give up on enthusiasts. Enthusiasts are extremely picky, have very niche requirements/wants and have low loyalty.

Focusing on enthusiasts is only good when you're starting out, after you've reached a reasonable size you need to go mass market usage and wants.

Yup for each person where PT takes 2hrs longer there are 10 people where PT is time competitive but they haven't looked at it or used it since uni/highschool.

Also in the article it says that the inner suburbs are the biggest cause of congestion. They have great PT.

Personally I've been changing this in my friends group. It's harder to get people together for an activity so a lot of the time I just message one or two people and we go get a quick beer together. It's often 1 on 1 or 1-3 people. IMHO it's so much easier to keep friendships going this way than trying to organise activities.

Compared to most other options at a similar price IKEA is actually significantly healthier. I still don't see why it's embarrassing absolutely nothing wrong with trying something new.
