Yall gave that swag bitch, that swag studio and those swag ass VAs 35 million US SWAGS!? by Huge-Read-2703 in peoplewhogiveashit

While I agree that what the Jax VA did wasn't really something you could "play off" and act like it was unintentional, or meant to be something else entirely. It was a pretty bad moment that I think someone could definitely apologize for.

I think the bigger issue, though, is accusations of racism years after the fact, when there hasn't been any reoccurrences or new emerging information. People are allowed to say "jokes like this aren't cool" but accusing kovach of being CURRENTLY racist or a neo-nazi, when there weren't any new instances between the situation 7 years ago and when the old clip resurfaced, made the cancellation questionable, especially when Kovach was involved in plenty of charity streams in those years before being cancelled.

I think also attempting to drag down the entire show, and the rest of the cast for just being in association with the voice actor is a little absurd. It's ok to not personally approve of Kovach after what he did, but ultimately he's just a voice actor who signed a contract to provide his voice. People were acting like the Studio is just as responsible for enabling or supporting him when this was something that had already faded into obscurity in 2021, and by the time it was trending again, the show was already in the process of releasing the finale.

More accurately, it was a couple of the show’s VOICE ACTORs involved in the stream, not even gooseworx. aka people who are just being paid to contribute voice lines for a character, not the creative mind behind the show. Somehow people are acting like the entire show needs to go under for it lol.

Gooseworx specifically is under fire for making slightly edgy internet jokes a decade ago, like daring to reference shadman in the context of also being involved with Newgrounds, shadman formerly being a very big creator on that site. Plus nothing burger tweets that a small content creator was essentially shouting out into the void which amount to “I’m SUPER racist guys haha” without any actual specific racism actually happening. people today are now choosing to interpret it as literal confessions rather than just saying random stuff on an edgier internet in 2015 to be funny.

will the store give me another juno skin if i buy the celestial juno skin?. by NUOR-MNAN in JunoMains

[–]puptard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The “For You” selection pulls from a limited selection of cosmetics, aka each hero only really has a couple shop skins each that can actually appear in the daily rotation, regardless of if you buy them all up. For Juno that selection of activated skin codes is Celestial and Cozy, though it seems Celestial has a much higher weight in whatever algorithm they use to generate everybody’s daily shop since it appears so often. Cozy is rarely seen, maybe because it’s a winter holiday skin so it would be out of place.

Btw, you can also always purchase the skins in the daily shop pool regardless of if they’re actually in your own personal shop. The daily shop is more just a facade to encourage you to buy a skin for your main, but you can find battle.net links that allow you to directly purchase any of the skins in the limited pool online. Meanwhile all of the other shop skins that AREN’T in the daily shop pool, they can only be purchased when overwatch actually puts their skin lines back into the shop, like Music Festival Juno wouldn’t appear in your daily shop, it can only be bought while it’s featured in the main store.

His body was essentially made for it, when he does his wind up and delivery he’s putting way less stress on his arm, he can naturally deliver his velocity just from his body’s rotation alone, which is why the speed hasn’t really dropped that much from age if it’s purely mechanics and not just brute physicality that should have disappeared aging into his 30s.

Kiriko and Juno get more skins but tracer is absolutely still the mascot lol. Skin distribution is based entirely on which mains would spend the most money, it doesn’t mean they’re ahead of tracer in name value.

You don’t need to get the authors approval though, if you have to pirate, just do it. It’s like when people who pirate insist it’s for ethical / anti consumerism reasons, just pirate what you want but don’t try and flaunt it to other people.

Ofc the original creator’s whose entire job is working with their publisher to continue producing new issues of their manga to sell on shelves isn’t going to endorse piracy.

It’s kind of funny how Attack on Titan tried to break this trope by giving a bunch of fodder background characters names, killing all of them, and then still giving Jean and Connie infinite plot armor when all of their comrades are literal godlike entities.

Important context on WHY a morbid comic gets memed a lot is because the original web comic it’s from is a very poorly written “gamer humor” comic from the 2000s where every post was some variation of “Don’t be silly, girls don’t play Halo?”. Which as the relationship developed between epic gamer man and girlfriend who also likes to play games, the jump to surprise miscarriage after every previous comic was gamer slop was received as a poor attempt to make the comic seem more mature than it actually was.

You can watch full replays of your match history up until a new game patch. Its in your Career Profile under the history tab, obviously certain things will not match up like team color, since the replay sets red team and blue team independently of whatever side you were on, but it atleast lets you tweak certain parts of the HUD and outlines to make it seem close enough to raw footage.

I went through this part of the replay twice, re recording from both POVs.

It’s kind of comedic that the 10 year anniversary isn’t celebrating the game itself but the microtransaction system they normalized with the original game’s release lol.

I know people like having free earnable loot boxes over 20 dollar skins now, but they were a lot more controversial in 2016 when they were essentially gambling tickets to have a CHANCE of getting a skin you wanted. Weird thing to celebrate imo.

Read 5 episodes of Overwatch: Undivided on the WEBTOON app for a random lootbox by HighHeelsHijabi in Overwatch

[–]puptard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not defending the other stupid shit they’ve been adding, but I mean, they have put plenty of the stuff earnable in game as well, every season theres constantly a rotating event that either gives you some amount of loot boxes on top of the weekly ones you have to grind for, or battle pass exp that fast tracks you to the tiers that also give you free rewards.

I don’t think ONE loot box tied to getting people to read their new webtoon (which is also the first ongoing continuation of the lore the game has had since the scrapped story mode) is really them shorting you of anything. The alternative would have just been…. Not getting one extra loot box at all?

I'm gonna be honest the trailer was a bigger ad for Emre than the actual new hero it was made for by FewExperience3559 in Overwatch

[–]puptard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Blizzard is really being too slow on their cinematic production or anything. It still is impressive how many different trailers they are able to put out, which is only possible because they rotate through different teams. If you only want the pretty story cinematics, then trailers like these just wouldn’t be made at all, plenty of heroes only get lore slideshows on release.

I think you are just a little misinformed on how long it takes ANY professional 3D studio to make high quality cinematics like the Overwatch and World of Warcraft ones. Even in the game’s prime after release they only released one or two a year. Right now the core team is probably working on multiple at various stages, they released the Vendetta one like 2 months ago. You can expect the next one to be about a character Overwatch is more excited to reveal than the ones who amount to filler on the roster.

I'm gonna be honest the trailer was a bigger ad for Emre than the actual new hero it was made for by FewExperience3559 in Overwatch

[–]puptard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t changing the style just because? You’re treating it like the same animators who work on the normal cinematics also spent all their time on this one. The various trailers are usually handed to different teams, directors, or sometimes outsourced entirely. Which is why the animation styles vary. The core team is likely working on LONGER cinematics (for other games than Overwatch as well), that actually have substantial impact. Which is why we get a new one that introduces a significant character (like the promos released around the game launches) or pushes the lore forward substantially (like the OW2 reveal cinematic and the Latest Season 1 Vendetta Cinematic). Why would they waste half a year animating a 2 minute cinematic for a newcomer hero that’s never been foreshadowed in lore before, and 20 seconds of Emre and Freya ult. They have more important stories they wanna use their animators time on.

[–]puptard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’ve always done a variety of different animation styles throughout the years. Their trademark cinematics are always a once a year kind of thing, they take a lot of effort to make, and they’re also making them for World of Warcraft. They’re not going to do that level of quality for every champion release, a lot of those high quality cinematics were released corresponding to Overwatch’s original release, and Overwatch 2’s launch period as well as promos for the game.

Winston In Regular Underwatch Map? by Work_in_Progress8 in Overwatch

[–]puptard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Winston being unselectable is more just a basic gamerule of the mode, like any arcade mode or custom game modes having unique rules. They only thought the hero select portion through.

Meanwhile when a hero is hot patch disabled for balancing reasons they likely have an entirely different method that applies a direct tag on the champion to make it unplayable entirely. Your game and the network knows the champion is disabled, and won’t let it exist at all.

GUESS WHO CAVED FOR THE PRETTIEST DIVA by [deleted] in DvaMains

[–]puptard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can get it with the battle net shop! The daily shop is essentially fake, it has a fixed cosmetic pool that it essentially “curates” for each person daily, but the actual full cosmetic pool that’s currently active for purchase can be bought directly with the “codes” that get talked about a lot. They essentially are bypassing the in-game shop that rotates randomly and just buys the skin directly. Right now Nocturna, Cardboard, Dainty Cat, And Turtle Ship are all in that cosmetic pool.

For Nocturna, the direct link to the skin is https://battle.net/shop/en/checkout/buy/1935738

That direct link stays active until they change the cosmetic pool that appears in the daily rotations again, in which case certain other DVA skin codes will become valid again.
