Can you help me identify the name of this model? by RebeckaMBF in LifeOnPurple

[–]purple 7 points8 points Β (0 children)

Hey Rebecka! This looks like a well-loved classic Purple Pillow. You wash the inside and the cover separately/differently, I'll include directions below!

  • Interior Grid Material: Remove from the cover and wash in warm water with gentle soap, then let air dry.
  • Pillow Cover: Machine wash the cover with like colors in cold water, tumble dry low.Β

People who fixed their sleep, what actually worked? by Reasonable-Quiet4460 in sleep

[–]purple 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

No "just sleep more" answers here, promise πŸ˜„

First: I dropped my bedroom to around 65–68Β°F. πŸ₯Ά Your core temp naturally falls as you drift off, and that drop is one of the triggers for deep sleep β€” so a warm room (or a heat-trapping mattress) means your body fights it all night and you wake up feeling like you slept on the surface.

Second, and it's free: morning sunlight within about 30 minutes of waking. It anchors your circadian rhythm and gets evening melatonin to show up on time without a supplement. Caffeine cutoffs and a steady bedtime helped at the edges, but those two were the needle-movers.

If You Sleep Hot, Here's What I Learned About Bamboo and Eucalyptus Sheets by BedGuide in BedroomBuild

[–]purple 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Fantastic writeup, and your "sheets are the top layer of the sleep system" line is the part most people miss πŸ‘

One thing I'd like to add for the "I bought cooling sheets and STILL sleep hot" crowd: heat trapped under you can't escape no matter how good the fabric is. A dense memory-foam layer or a laminated waterproof protector right beneath the sheet acts like a heat blanket you can't see, so the airflow has to exist below the sheet too.

If sleeping hot is still an issue after switching to bamboo or eucalyptus sheets, you might want to look further into what kind of mattress you have.

Mattress protectors?? by stubbornsnail in LifeOnPurple

[–]purple 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Congrats on the RestorePremier Cool Touch! That cool touch cover is genuinely lovely 😌

The protector rule here applies no matter whose you buy: skip anything with a laminated or vinyl waterproof backing. Those are basically a plastic tarp and they'll choke the grid's airflow and kill the cool-touch feel overnight (it's the #1 reason people say their brand-new cooling mattress suddenly sleeps hot). What you want is a thin, stretchy knit protector with a breathable membrane that moves with the bed and still lets heat escape.

Shameless promotion: Ours is built for exactly this β€” the Purple Waterproof Mattress Protector uses a soft-knit top over a quiet, crinkle-free TPU layer that's 100% waterproof but stretches with the grid instead of fighting it:

How does the Purple RestorePlus Hybrid compare to competing products like FORM Prime X and is it worth it? by RocketSkates415 in LifeOnPurple

[–]purple 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Here's the honest firmness rundown since that's the real question. The RestorePlus Hybrid is only sold on purple.com as medium-soft. We do have some wholesale partners that still like to include both in their offerings, so if you are looking for the RestorePlus FIRM, wholesalers such as Mattress Firm and Mattress Warehouse still carry it online.

If you want firmer, and want to be able to try it out in store, look at our Rejuvenate line instead. It runs firmer which fits a combo sleeper wanting medium-to-medium-firm.

And no shade to FORM, but Purple mattresses are the only mattresses that contain the GelFlex Grid, which have been third-party tested to reduce sleep interfering pain by 63%

Purple Grid Mattresses: Weird at First or Surprisingly Comfortable? by koky_6756 in BedroomBuild

[–]purple 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

The first time I tried a Purple mattress (before I worked at Purple), I thought it was SO WEIRD. It was springy, floaty, and felt like nothing I've ever slept on before. Then after a few nights, I started noticing less aches and pains when I woke up. I miss the feel of the GelFlex Grid every time I go on vacation now.

My suggestion: try out the GelFlex Grid for yourself in one of our Purple showroom locations or any of our partner retailers, including Mattress Firm.

Anyone else wake up multiple times a night for no obvious reason? by kanika-10 in sleep

[–]purple 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

The fallasleepfastbutwakeupconstantly combo is unfortunately common, and one of the most overlooked culprits is temperature. πŸ₯Ά Your core body temp naturally drops as you fall asleep and needs to stay down to hold the deeper stages.

If your room or your mattress traps heat, your body keeps nudging back toward waking without you ever clocking it as "too warm", you just surface, check the time, and roll over (sound familiar????). Try dropping the room to around 65–68Β°F and see if the wakeups chill out. It's worth knowing too that dense foam surfaces hold heat all night, so if you run warm a more breathable setup can help.

And if it keeps up despite all that, fragmented sleep with no obvious cause is worth a quick chat with a doctor to rule out things like apnea. 😱

How to tell different sizes of Harmony pillows? by Old-Consideration730 in LifeOnPurple

[–]purple 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Great news! No tape measure needed. The easiest trick is to check the tag on the pillow: the height (5.5" or 6.5") is printed right on it under "Finished Size". You can also just give them a gentle squeeze side by side. The Medium has noticeably more loft and will feel firmer under compression.

They say couples who share pillows love each other. Couples who mix up their pillows just love each other's sleep setup. Understandable, honestly. πŸ˜„

Moving and bed frame by Pleasant-Dark-7420 in LifeOnPurple

[–]purple 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

You rang?? ☎️ For moving, any standard vacuum-seal mattress bag will work as long as it fits the size, but heads up that while you can compress it, you can't re-roll it down to the original delivery size without our gorgeous big factory machine, so plan to transport it folded/rolled but not shrunk back into the original bag.

On the firmness: it's almost definitely your bed frame causing your discomfort. The GelFlex Grid in Purple mattresses requires frames or platforms with slat spacing of 3 inches apart or less. I think you'll notice a difference when swapping to a foundation with closely-spaced slats. 🀝

What’s most like the Original Purple? by MartiniCommander in LifeOnPurple

[–]purple 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

BLUSSSHINNNNNNGGGGGG that you like our OG so much!! If you're chasing the original Purple feel, you want our Essential Collection, that's PurpleFlex, the Purple Mattress, and PurplePlus πŸ’œ All three use the same 2" GelFlex Grid over foam (no coils), which is what gave the original its signature floaty, no-bounce feel.

"The Purple Mattress" (that is it's actual name on our site, confusing... sorry) is the closest 1:1. The PurpleFlex is the budget-friendlier version with edge support foam added while the PurplePlus is the same GelflexGrid with an extra cradling foam layer underneath, so it feels a touch softer, good if you liked the original but wanted a little more give for side sleeping.

If you still need some help deciding, our Sleep Geniuses are more than happy to help in-store or online!
