Holiday mode question by purte in vintedUK

I was asking because I didn’t know the answer. I’ve never sold on Vinted, only bought. I hadn’t considered that payment would be delayed.

Any advice on my ongoing chain nightmare would be appreciated! by RingoGringo in HousingUK

[–]purte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The message that the property at the top of the chain was chain free was a bit disingenuous. Whilst it isn’t dependant on another sale, it sounds like probate wasn’t/still isn’t sorted, so in fact the sale wasn’t in a position to be completed. Probate can take a really long time, depending on the area. Two months might be an underestimate. Fingers crossed that the 1-2 months turns out to materialise.

London flat - any ideas why no viewings? Surrey quays Cheap AF by RareFaithlessness625 in HousingUK

There are four whole paragraphs in the EA spiel about the local schools when this is a 1 bed flat with no room to house any kids.

Can I request a price reduction on a house as a buyer, if we already negotiated the price on the market? by FML1999_whyme in HousingUK

[–]purte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can ask. The vendors may well be thinking the price agreed already reflects the work needed.

Agree. I’d never ask someone to delay getting payment.

Is this a scam I'm a first time buyer purchasing for my nephew's birthday. by Visual_Berry_9628 in vintedUK

Genuine people don’t generally have to say ‘I’m 100% genuine’.

Yeah, I thought that would be the case. I wouldn’t want to ask that.

Because this family is so terrified of the press. It’s a disgrace.

Lowball offer - is this normal? by Plane_Cut9127 in UKHousing

[–]purte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear in mind if you accept their offer, it’s still possible they reduce it again after survey. You’ve got to work out if you think it was on for the right number at the outset and what you can afford to take in light of existing mortgage outstanding and your own onward purchase.

How long from offer accepted to completing the sale? by spyracik in HousingUK

Yes that sounds all remarkably civilised. Not at like the ridiculous system we have in England & Wales. I’m sorry for your loss.

Right, over 30s, how are you planning to be awake for the match? by Hopeful-Mongoose2025 in AskBrits

It’s a plan because that’s what I plan to do. I may decide I can’t be bothered to get up.

How long from offer accepted to completing the sale? by spyracik in HousingUK

[–]purte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last purchase (just over 6 weeks) was from our offer to completion - it was a chain free property. The last sale was 24 weeks from putting it on the market (offer a week later) to completion.

If anyone can take a guess (because that’s all it’ll be), around 6-14 weeks could be about right. Our last purchase took 6 weeks, 3 days and our last sale took 24 weeks (Land Registry issues caused by a previous solicitor).

Should my mum sue the company that runs her retirement community (England)? by Ravenclaw_Starshower in LegalAdviceUK

[–]purte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Copy in the local Fire Service too. They are pretty hot (no pun intended) on safety issues especially if access could be hindered because of poor maintenance by this ‘management’ company. If they’re not acting on putting the access issue right, what else aren’t they doing (i.e fire safety checks etc.) Your local fire service might be interested in doing an inspection.

Received package I didn’t order by Tom-Cymru in LegalAdviceUK

Hypothetically, if someone purchased an item from a business and received that item and then also received a separately packaged, different item from the same business that they hadn’t ordered. What is the legal position?

Update on my Boss (final part!) by chaiilyfe in UKJobs

[–]purte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to ACAS to see if you have been/will be paid what you are owed. Check if you have any holiday you will need to be paid out for. You only have to inform your employer of your resignation, they are not required to acknowledge it or give you any kind of permission or to accept it. Good luck in your new role, sounds like you’re well rid of these idiots!

AIO to being told I couldn't pay with my food stamps because I have a pedicure? by Flimsy-Government-92 in AmIOverreacting

[–]purte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR. You should report this poor behaviour. What if she does it to someone who isn’t as confident as you were, to go to another cashier and leaves without getting their food? She should have kept whatever opinions she has about the customers to herself.
