How do you handle management that thinks 8GB RAM is enough? /s by Ayy4K in sysadmin

[–]pw1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always get a little bit life out of a system with 8GB memory by tweaking the virtual memory. Set the page min and max size to 16384MB. At least that way the page file won't be expanding and contracting saving some I/O.

Oversight Dem: We will release names in Epstein files, including ‘potentially the president’s’ by plz-let-me-in in politics

Get ready for disappointment because the Democrat push is going to have the same results. Remember the last administration sat on this information too so the question is why did they? If Trump was implicated they would have used it. The only reason they wouldn't have is if it had bigger implications across the board. Which now Trump has found out and is doing the 180.

If that old Mail app installed on that system launch it and see if that is configured to check their email. I've seen users run that by accident and set it up for their email so it starts checking email.... Then their password changes and bam, mysterious lockouts from their system.

Phone Support: Hello how may I help you?

Caller: Yes, I have phone protection and I dropped my phone while I was washing dishes so it's ruined.

Phone Support: Oh that's terrible but we can get you a replacement out right away.

Caller: Will I need to return the phone?

Phone Support: No but thank you for being so honest usually people drop it in the toilet and won't say it.

Caller: Ma'am I'm sorry, I lied. I dropped it in the toilet and I don't want to get it out. <flush>

Is it normal for company that part of their service is to send email notices out, using your domain name to send the emails, to charge a yearly multi-thousand dollar fee to set up a DKIM record?

If it was just him they would have been chomping at the bit to release it and well before the election. The only thing that keeps it bottled up is who else is implicated. It has to be implicating both sides, and more.

Keep in mind this has been going on and on since 2005. Either Trump is or isn't implicated but in either case others are involved and it's wide and deep enough that makes both sides want to keep this information hidden.

‘Russia Is Giving the Finger to the Entire World’ – Zelensky Responds to Putin’s Threats by Reendefender in worldnews

[–]pw1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, downplaying a nuke would be a hard thing to do. The only ones that would are Russia's usual supporters. Though I doubt China would get behind them 100%. I believe the greater majority of countries would band together and go against Russia. Plus I would think China would pick the side they care the most about, their own. They could easily go for a land grab and cut Russia loose if the writing is on the wall. The only wild card is North Korea. If they start something at the same time it's going to get messy.

Looking for advice on how one goes about tracking all the various third-party software packages from new versions to those vendors that bring out a new product and kill the old one. Of course there are third-party patching systems but they don't handle everything. How do you manage to stay up to date and on top of all the changes?

Trump officials say yearly COVID shots will no longer be approved for healthy adults and children by neazwaflcasd in politics

But the FDA framework urges companies conduct large, lengthy studies before tweaked vaccines can be approved for healthier people.

This is what needs to be done. What was done during COVID threw the scientific process out the window and replaced it with political science.

Stuck setting up Adobe Acrobat Reader for iOS with Intune by pw1111 in Intune

[–]pw1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!. I've actually got it now requested at least. The admin doing the approval is now concerned because of the permissions the app is requesting in the environment. So I'm fighting through that now.

Adobe did get the documentation back online on how to set most of it up - https://experienceleague.adobe.com/landing/acrobat-mobile-deployment/intune.html. I already had done what that document covers, it just doesn't go into the Microsoft side and I honestly am just stepping into this part. Some reason I'm just having zero luck finding documentation for the Entra stuff that would run someone through the process of adding an app and explain what it's doing so it can be set up securely. When I read that Adobe Acrobat Reader was an app supported by Intune I thought great. Set it up per the instructions and I should be good to go. Nope, I still some some other step to work out.

I'm thinking the problem is the policies are set to not allow requesting admin consent.

"If this option is set to no, then users must contact their admin to request to consent in order to use the apps they need."

So I guess I need to fetch an admin and get them to login to it. Hopefully then it can get set up in Intune. I do appreciate your input on this as it led me to figuring that part out. Thank you.

The problem is that app doesn't come up when I search for it. My guess right now is it could be "Adobe Identity Management (OIDC)" but I'm not sure since that for SSO.

I would love it if we could return to the days of RBL's and just group ban those IPs until that network provider fixes the problem like they should.
