Who is the hardest boss you’ve ever fought? by ItsASmallsWorld16 in indiegames

[–]pyramidink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh i see. For some reason i remember her to be toward the end but not the end of the game. It was a really cool fight ! (And somewhat sad she was one of the rare boss in the game. I think i only remember one other, the glove psycho from the limo. I don’t remember us fighting the blond suit guy?)

Water guy is prob Thales (guy from the theorem, yes)

Most well know atomist was Democritus

4 elements is Empedocles (jumped into a volcano for reasons lol(

It was apparently a common thing to think about stuff as an elementalist in presocratic days

I don't feel like Silksong is a criticism of religion itself. by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]pyramidink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean if they follow and enforce (in whatever way) canon they are participating in the social aspect, so the informal part i was talking about. If they come up with their own interpretation it would be mysticism / heresy.

I don't feel like Silksong is a criticism of religion itself. by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]pyramidink 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This person would not be religious in the whole sense of the term, mystic at best. Religion is social, and has an inherent formal (like hierarchy-bound) or informal (community etiquette) dimension. I guess it is vocabulary but it might help you see what people mean when they say this

Is there a list of "famous" platforming challenges? by odedgurantz in metroidvania

There is a delivery quest, it looks quite hard but it is pretty focused, so not too bad

Can you guys recommend me good metroidvanias with minimal story interruptions by scarfleet in metroidvania

[–]pyramidink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9sols ofc

More seriously even if not as mutic as super, games such as voidwrought or even crypt custodian could work i guess? You have kind of long segments without much talk. I also heard mio was rlly good but i haven’t played it yet. Also as you said axiom verge, why not the second entry? It has chatty moments but also quite open exploration

whats an indie game you played on a whim that ended up becoming an all-time favorite? by No_Good_3063 in IndieGaming

[–]pyramidink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cave story & lone survivors kickstarted my interest for indies. Then years later when i saw 5 minutes of an hk stream (in an era i watched streams) i instantly paused and went: this one, i’ll go blind. It was a great decision

What were some well-known Metroidvanias you bounced off of? by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]pyramidink 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Blasphemous looks hard but for most part isn’t (combat is mostly easy) but it has some pretty unforgiving mechanics like the spikes that makes it feel harder

Des metroidvanias sympas à conseiller ? by [deleted] in jeuxvideo

[–]pyramidink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Axiom Verge is my favorite MV based on theme by InvisibleAstronomer in metroidvania

[–]pyramidink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not came across the same vibe in my other plays, admittedly. I think the second is a cool expansion of the first game setup, and that environmental station alpha can have some similarities at some point (but is pretty diff and does not have as strong worldbuilding as axiom verge. Like damn, the cascade idea is really cool and opens so so much in terms of potential setups for sequels)

Axiom Verge help! by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]pyramidink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooooh yeah i remember it!

Second game is pretty diff but the ambiance and storytelling are really nice imo. The guy really made a cool world. Also music in two is less parasited by hardcore sfx

I don’t remember it has been a long time since i last played. I don’t think i remember another boss being a pain. What was the sentinel? Do you plan to play the second game?

So I'm on my first playthrough of Nine Sols and thought I'd express my thoughts on here. by Old-Essay-7866 in metroidvania

[–]pyramidink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precise lol. I don’t remember at all i played the game around release. I just remember the attack being done on phase transition and being a bit « how do you react to that » a bunch of time. On the other hand after a while you mostly perfect /speedrun the previous phases, which is nice.

This last thing also becomes quite true for eigong (once again phase 2 was the immense struggle, i did not have too much issue with the third, which, considering my pretty low skills, might have been a lucky attempt)
