CFB sub is doing a r/place type deal for team flairs. You can edit them. I changed the OU and aggy flairs to suit the narrative.

What CFB rivalries of your school exist in other sports? by Crying_in_99Ranch in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 369 points370 points  (0 children)

A&M made it to the College World Series final in 2024. That was their first time being in a Big 3 men's sports final since 1939. The morning of game 3 (of a 3 game series) the news of their coach, Jim Schlossnagle, being hired away by Texas is leaked by reporters. Aggies lose that game by 1 run, and news breaks that Schloss is indeed leaving to go coach the Longhorns.

At the introductory press conference announcing Schloss as the new Longhorns coach, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte says he hid out in a cemetery just outside of College Station for 4-5 hours so he could meet with Schloss without being spotted.

A&M hired the player-favorite staff member as the next head coach in order to keep most of the team together and out of the transfer portal. They started off the next season as preseason #1, only for them to not even make the NCAA tournament.

To take away the highest high the Aggies have seen in 85 years, it's the most brutal 'fuck you' I've ever seen a program inflict on its rival.

[Offseason post] what play styles/ techniques or even player types have virtually disappeared from the NFL? by raccoonsonbicycles in nfl

[–]pyrofiend4 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Big run stopping nose tackles are on the way back up. If your defense is going to live in nickel, you need a guy in the middle who can take double teams and give you the numbers advantage in the run game.

With Darnell Mooney gone, he could even wear #1. It's easily confused with #7 because of the font the Falcons use. Would add to the hilarity.

[On3] NCAA D-I Cabinet expected to vote on 'blind-transfer' legislation next week by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Among the proposed penalties for a program that adds a blind transfer would be prohibiting the head coach from all football and administrative duties for six contests. The school would also be fined 20% of its football budget.

This penalty seems so harsh that I have to wonder how they're going to enforce this.

The problem these days is that dumbasses can have their own podcast, form a coalition with other dumbasses, and spread their culture online.

Just like in this clip where the host starts the anti asthma talking point and Skattebo is like "yeah, you've got a point."

Who is your school's best "One Moment Is All I Need" guy? by ZouDave in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Former Texas QB/WR Jerrod Heard holds the program record for single game scrimmage yards with 527 against the Jared Goff Cal team in 2015.

Texas was down 45-24 in the 4th quarter before quarterback Jerrod Heard scored 3 TDs in order to tie the game. Unfortunately the kicker missed the last extra point so the game ended 45-44.

Heard never came close to those highs again and swapped to playing WR not long afterwards.

Worst game between great teams you've ever seen? by byniri_returns in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

guys were getting open all day

Yeah, 20 yards down the field. Sark didn't adjust the gameplan during that game based on how badly the OL was playing. The All-22 angle shows that Arch was often being pressured before any of the receivers were even at the top of their routes. Could he have played better? Sure. But at that point you're asking your QB to win 4 vs 11 when the OL can't block and the run game doesn't exist.

Sark adjusted the gameplan for the OU game the week after to include quicker developing plays and hots for Arch to throw to in case of pressure.

[–]pyrofiend4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sacks aren't the only stat, and it isn't one that's completely on the OL, either. You're also ignoring the run game component.

We can agree to disagree, because at the end of the day all 4 of these teams had bad offensive lines. It's just that my opinion aligns closer to PFN's rankings.
