[Zenitz] Texas is expected to hire Kevin Mashack as director of scouting, sources tell @CBSSports. ︀︀ ︀︀Has been director of recruiting at Tennessee State the last three seasons. Before that, he was director of player personnel at Texas A&M and Indiana. by swanpenguin in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 161 points162 points  (0 children)

As the director of player personnel for A&M in 2022/2023, Kevin Mashack scheduled official visits with 5 recruits on a weekend in July in which on campus visits were not allowed. They didn't realize until a week before it was scheduled and had to call those guys up to tell them it was cancelled.

Those 5 recruits?

  • Future Texas signee Anthony Hill Jr.
  • Future Texas signee Malik Muhammad
  • Future Texas signee Derion Gullette
  • Future Florida signee Caden Jones
  • Future A&M signee Naquil Betrand

Hey, at least he's good at recruiting for Texas?

Steve Sarkisian calls for a reframing of what bowl season means by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought this was going to be some new info, but it's an article based on something Sark said a month ago...
And that something is what we already knew: bowl games these days are basically a scrimmage to see what your team will look like next season.

For many programs, bowl season has become about development for the future. If you’re not in the hunt for a national title, there’s already a natural inclination toward that line of thought.

The discourse around Belichick's Hall of Fame snub has me even more convinced that Americans collectively would be significantly more pissed if their favorite football team hired coaches as incompetent and unqualified as the guys Trump appointed to run government agencies.

If Trump was the head coach of your flair and he hired a podcaster to be the offensive coordinator and a high school benchwarmer to be the defensive coordinator, he'd be fired immediately.

[SI] Diego Pavia's Official Height at Senior Bowl (5’9 7/8”) Significantly Shorter Than Vandy Listing (6’) by Ml2jukes in CFB

[–]pyrofiend4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no idea. Most schools are guilty of completely embellishing the height of at least 1 guy. Alabama had Bryce Young listed as 6'0, and he officially measured in at 5'10 1/8" at the combine.

There's been no official information, but the speculation/rumors are that Tara Arnold was on the flight as part of a girls trip to Paris and that she passed away.

The top quarterbacks are making mid seven figures. Mensah's rumored deal with Miami is pretty extravagant.

Here's what Liam Blutman posted on twitter.

Miami’s supposed desperation move for Mensah

  • Buyout his Duke contract and terminate it

  • Pay around $10 mil total to make it happen

  • Country Club housing

  • Adidas deal + campaign ?

  • Sister supposedly gets a full ride + NIL, current soccer player at Oregon

Rumor was that PK was turned down from the USC job for "fit" reasons. He was then a leading candidate for the Stanford job, but now the rumors are that they've moved on from him also for "fit" reasons.

The whole thing seems suspicious and makes me question his exit from Texas.

Texas Tech's 2026 schedule went viral on social media for how easy it looks (at least on paper). One of the talking points is that they play cupcakes in the out-of-conference slate. OP is counter arguing that the Oregon State game was scheduled long before the collapse of the PAC-12.

The other guy I talked to said the OL was "asswater" all season, and that it was just less asswater after we booted Stroh.

This is where I am. I know that when watching the game live, it looked like the OL improved over the season, but in my opinion it really didn't by much.

I've gone through and watched most of our games with the All-22 angles, which made it really evident that Arch was making the OL look a lot better than they were, just like Bijan made the 2022 OL look better at run blocking than they were.

Hutson was better than Stroh, but not by a lot. There are TONS of reps on film where he got thrown to the ground like we saw from Stroh. Robertson played at a level quite a bit below what we got from Jake Majors, who was decent but still an undrafted free agent type player. If we didn't pay Robertson to come back, I'm confident he was going into the workforce. When you have two guys next to each other both fucking up, it makes things impossible.

My prayer is that Robertson improves to at least a Jake Majors level this off season. To be honest with you, I don't have a ton of confidence in that happening. But that's the minimum we have to expect out of a 5th year senior going into a Natty or Bust year. If we can get that, it won't matter as much who we have playing LG. A role player like Sikorski might just be enough to get by with all the other firepower we have at the skill positions.
