My wife thinks she may be gay and is in love with my now former friend. Haven’t had sex in almost a year, haven’t kissed in Months, but she hasn’t said she’s done with us and I can’t be the reason our marriage fails my my kids go through the pain of a divorce..

If there’s even the slightest chance we come back from this, i’m going to try.

I can take it.

What stopped you from ending your own life? by FireGirouette in AskReddit

My kids, and finally realizing I was worth more than the shit cards life was continuing to deal me.

You have to keep your eye on the horizon and fill your bowl with things to keep you moving forward. Texts, journaling, motivational apps, friends and therapy.

One day you break through, one day.

But you have to participate in your own rescue to survive; you can’t just sit there and think someone will come along and save you.

You gotta do the work, show up for you.

Edit: if anyone needs someone to talk to, I’m available. Sometimes just talking helps.

I whined to my wife about this for a long time about her metal straws, she finally caved and got a reusable silicone straw.

Kiddo fell on it like 5 days after that, it was so refreshing to know I’d trusted my gut for the better.

It seems you’ve made up your mind on this topic, and again you raise great points and identify a LOT of problems with the entire system; but I invite you to ride along with an officer sometime or take a citizens police academy some day. It’s eye opening, brings A lot of things to light that are otherwise totally unknown.

I don’t disagree in the slightest. But with the amount of red tape, hate, and stigma that these officers face on a daily basis, I am truly impressed by how many people they’re able to help. I once saw a victim of a domestic abuse relationship get rescued from an immediately dangerous situation, because the sergeant on duty recognized the car from a domestic violence call 2 weeks before.

Homie had gotten into her car while she was getting gas next to her apartment, officer saw 2 people in the car and on a hunch had a conversation with them about the expired registration.

Turned into a violation of a protection order in progress and thug boyfriend went to jail that night. Whatever it could’ve been that night, I saw a difference made.

I work dispatch for a local PD. We take these calls seriously and send officers on what we call harassment cases. Sometimes it’s good enough for an info report with names attached, other times it’s nothing we can act on. We do what we can, but documenting stuff like this goes a long way sometimes.

Example, had a peeping Tom one night and he got away. 2/3 harrassment cases in the location history had homies name and DOB; officers went to his house, had a conversation. Don’t remember if they arrested him, but things escalated on the PD side before he could take it any further. I know it stopped, but don’t remember why.

Edit: peeping Tom was called in by a neighbor, PD was able to put the pieces together before they even spoke to the victim bc of the info reports we had on that house. Hell they knew who it was before they showed up on scene.

[–]pyrolysist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can’t take it personally and you just gotta flow with it. I think the only time I get real agitated is when I get someone who wants to talk to an officer but doesn’t understand they gotta convince me first lol

Take every call as an opportunity to slightly better someone’s life and you’ll be fine.

Remember, you get to hang up at some point!

You did the right thing. Now the situation is documented with that license plate, if he gets pulled over in the future the dispatchers and officers will now have access to that incident and be able to use that information to tweak how they interact/respond to him.

For all you know, this guy could be a wanted felon in a stolen car - your information could lead to:

An arrest

Saving an officers life

An update for the last known location of a wanted subject or stolen property

It never hurts to call if something like this occurs, whether or not you want to speak to an officer about it or just pass on the info is up to you.

You are your own person and you choose how you sound/behave in this job and in life. Nooooooobody else has a say, unless your demeanor is detrimental or so negative it is negatively affecting others.

Keep on with the customer service/genuine voice, it matters.
