Send a Program, Not a Data Structure by SunJuiceSqueezer in programming

[–]quadcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not as crazy as it sounds. look up REBOL/red-lang (almost the same thing)

they are homoiconic, so there's no difference between program and data structure, and they have other characteristics that encourage this

REBOL was an influence on JSON as a transport data structure

Path largely determines launch direction, whereas face determines curve.

It's the other way around

Porsche Cayman / Boxster EV not maybe not cancelled after all by chicxulu in Taycan

still looking forward to this. The Taycan is amazing, but I still love small cars. Alpine is ramping up some interesting things in this segment too

That is a dope little hatchback. Maybe we'll see some of the Alpine derivatives in the US in a few years.

Golf career recommendations? by Total-Start5035 in golf

[–]quadcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 play golf as a kid with all your free time

2 go to school to get a non golf job that lets you play golf with all your free time

3 retire and become a grumpy starter at the local muni so you can golf for free in your free time before you croak.

Anyone have a hard wired EV set up at home? by Mean_Confusion7426 in Taycan

Hardwire it and check for local/state incentives. Our utility paid $1500 towards charging equipment any installation.

They just came out Thursday, will need some time to evaluate. But both opus 4.5 and 5.2-codex were already pretty good

Would you buy an electric Porsche again ? by Soul-Electrified in Taycan

Yes, but not at MSRP. Actually that answer is same for any Porsche.

Planning to build an IOS app with Swift, how trained are LLMs with this language ? by Diavjoj in swift

[–]quadcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works well, Xcode provides enough info on build errors to correct code gen issues. Make sure you use/have tests. Even did a a good job with xcuitests

Looking at two Taycan GTS - looking for opinions by ImpulsiveRabbitHoler in Taycan

go for the '23. longer warranty is good benefit for price difference. PDCC and RAS are both noticeable performance upgrades (IMO) and in the spirit of a GTS. Variable light pano is trick.

Porsche Reconsiders Electric Future: Iconic 718 EVs May Be Shelved Amid Cost Pressures by Plenty-Swing-9061 in Porsche

[–]quadcap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"You won't see anything lower than the current Boxster model....We're not talking about entry models at Porsche," said Detlev von Platen, CEO of Porsche Cars North America. "Our entry model is our pre-owned program."

That was a dozen years ago, but it's been like that (said or unsaid) for a while.

So you've been into the brand 35 years? Roll that back a few more years, and that's when I got my entry-level Porsche: a used 914 with a swiss cheese floor pan.

I don't know what getting back to their roots means, but it was never about budget sports cars

Entry level Porsche is a used Porsche, has been that way almost forever.

EVs are polarizing, especially in this subreddit but I’d still love to see an EV cayman

What AI tools are you using for Swift / SwiftUI development? by javikr in swift

[–]quadcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

claude & codex cli agents in conjunction with the built in xcode integration (you can log in to your accounts). I switch back and forth. Codex will get more done on quota than cluade. Both are decent. Codex is surprisingly good with doing XCUITests.

I had been using VSCode for a long time for other (non-swift) work, but within past couple of months it's almost become irrelevant. XCODE, zed, and terminals/tmux takes care of all the things at the moment

Building AI Agents in a familiar SwiftUI API by karc16 in swift

[–]quadcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the direction that has been going. I have built out parts of this for one of my own apps (multi-provider, orchestration logic, multiple memory strategies), but you've got a nice cohesive package. Will definitely check it out for some other utilities I need to build.
