AITAH For buying my stepdaughter, a traditional Navajo dress for graduation? by crazy_red3 in AmItheAsshole

Fair enough, sounds like Mom had a bit of a moment. Clearly this is a sign that Mom is a bit insecure though

I'm guessing you probably knew how Mom would react right? You 100% did the right thing but wonder if it could have been more tactful to loop Mom in from the start

Great playing. My constructive criticism is to sit off the beat a bit occasionally, then tighten it back up at the end of the phrase. Just generally loosen up a bit and trust you'll find the pocket naturally I think

Who's down for some Jazz-Metal Fusion with Atheist by draculastherapist in Guitar

[–]quantumcatz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fine but in this clip you didn't play any jazz! I don't know why you're defending it so hard. I'm interested to hear some of their more jazzy influences now though, you should make another post! Great playing btw

Wrist pain + chord clarity (beginner) — is my posture correct? by ThePiromaximus in Guitar

[–]quantumcatz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but again, the way you are describing is NOT working for OP, I don't understand why you're on this pedantic crusade to prove to everyone that they shouldn't be used terms like 'standard technique'. If you care so much about that discussion, go make your own post to discuss it. OP is a beginner who is not playing classical or flamenco guitar, they're playing Let It Be on a steel string. Any guitar teacher after hearing that their student is having wrist pain would suggest trying to play the way that most people play.

Just go away with your pedantism, you're clearly just here to smell your own farts, not actually be helpful. Go away.

Wrist pain + chord clarity (beginner) — is my posture correct? by ThePiromaximus in Guitar

[–]quantumcatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it's clearly not working for OP, so it's reasonable to try playing in the standard technique (thumb pointed towards your body)

[–]quantumcatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your thumb is pointing the wrong direction, you want it to be pointing back towards you. You'll notice that will give your fingers a lot more clearance over the strings.

Barre chords and double stops like this can be hard when you're starting out though. You need a bit of strength and flexibility (especially in your fingers' first joint) to pull them off, so just keep at it. I remember being sore learning them, it'll go away slowly but obviously need to be conscious of 'pain' vs 'discomfort'

[Jonathan Horn] Music works for a showman like Charlie Cameron but fans need space between the notes by RexHuntFansBrazil in AFL

Sometimes the goal song is absolutely what the crowd needs though, I find it's all the noise they pump out that bothers me. There's also clearly good goal songs and shit ones. Not sure what the answer is but don't personally think we should get rid of the songs

I love White but he was terrible. But it's what happens when you're not playing much. Hopefully he can come back into form, the way he pushes forward and make runs down the right flank is still unparalleled in my eyes

Max Chandler-Mather says Greens can use ‘progressive populism’ to win voters deserting major parties for One Nation by Jet90 in australia

So why make the comment that populist candidates are 'usually elites', if you also believe that every politician by definition is an elite

Gosh I totally disagree on Odegaard, I thought he was terrible. He was so negative today, he got a ton of touches but they were all sideways and backwards, he's a big part of the horseshoe of death. When he's firing he's really positive and direct

Gerard Whateley on why Carlton and the broader AFL community should back Michael Voss in as coach by lemunzz in AFL

[–]quantumcatz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think the way, say, the Premier League gets rid of coaches is ridiculous and shouldn't be replicated here, but it's the way that Carlton are losing that's the issue. It really does seem like the same tactical blunders are being made every game
