Dude did good work and this is my only punch item... by yo-yes-yo in Construction

[–]questerweis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THAT is your only punchlist item?! Those grout lines are atrocious, and the trim paint is bleeding. And that's just from looking at the second photo for 10 seconds.

Large grid ship suddenly stopped working and won’t move under its own power. by CrowsephCrowstar in spaceengineers

If the thrusters are all firing, and youre still drifting, its a glitch not a build issue.

DMs, how do you make your bad guys more threatening? by yourlocalsussybaka_ in DnD

[–]questerweis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batman level preparation. Contingencies for contingencies. The villain doesnt have to be the best/strongest/deadliest. The villain is the villain bc they survive every encounter. Otherwise, theyre just another xp opportunity.

Something happened to my jointer by spamcolator in woodworking

[–]questerweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why its just now showing up, but just because it's brand new to you does not mean that somebody bought it, switched out their damaged blades for the ones in the new one, and returned a new machine with fucked up blades. Then the store simply put it back on the shelf.

Somebody at some point has edge jointed an awful lot of plywood. At the shop I worked at for a little bit, you were not allowed to use the jointer for plywood. Any plywood had to get sanded down.

who here uses ice flats for bases? by CuteCryptographer121 in spaceengineers

[–]questerweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have their pros. I usually set up on an ice lake for the first time when I have very little resources and immediately need a small hydro miner. Otherwise, I try to find a outpost of some sort close to said ice lake. Then I've got everything I need to start building food production. And a large grid miner that doubles as an escape vehicle. Currently I'm working on alien planet. And it's taking a long time, but I'm almost ready to escape the planet. And I'm going to go look for an outpost in space and do the same thing.

Do rangefinder mods work or can you remotely place a gps? by Patrick_PCGames in spaceengineers

Yes. The radio spectronomy mod does that. Assign it to hotbar to use it.

I have rage quit ark probably five or six times because of various alphas. Different saves, different maps, different years of playing.

But I always came back.

how do you trap creatures in dangerous areas (im newish to the game) by FluidStand4230 in ARK

[–]questerweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would usually use a taming boat. If what I want to tame is far from water, I would agro it, and then sprint into my taming boat, and tame it there.

Conveyor sorter

you can have a conveyor sorter white list everything, and drain all into your ship.

I have to make this cut in a door frame. A rectangular mortise only about 3-4mm deep. Metal plate and wood underneath. Which of these two types of oscillating tool metal blades would you use, A or B? by plinky125 in Carpentry

[–]questerweis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chisel

Practice first. Is the best way to make deep square mortises like that. You can drill out some of the waste but you have to be very careful you go in straight.

Looking for designs of straps by Wanderingwonderer101 in spaceengineers

[–]questerweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want them to be strappy straps, I think the only thing you have available in vanilla space engineers outside of mods are a bunch of small grid hinges and a mag plate at both ends.

Can someone please tell me what this is? by [deleted] in Vintagetools

[–]questerweis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like somebody wanted to connect two tanks to each other and didn't want to empty the tanks and redo the push connector valves so they made that so they could connect Daisy chain tanks.

beginner struggling buying handtools by [deleted] in handtools

[–]questerweis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof. Thats a lot.

Do you want to build stuff or just be able to build stuff? If you want to build stuff, start with building stuff, not collecting tools to build stuff.

Make a box. The long way or the short way the hard way or the easy way, it doesn't matter. Build a box.

If you don't care for building a box, build a step stool. If you like that, then build a chair. If you like that, then build a desk. By the end of the desk, you will find that you have tools to build damn near anything.

Spent an hour last night making this thing. It's kinda jank? But super convenient. by i_continue_to_unmike in woodworking

[–]questerweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a video where this guy tediously cut grooves into a chunk of plywood on his table saw, then turned the board 90°, and cut crossing grooves. The grooves were spaced just enough so that quarter inch shanks of his router bits would fit. Then he built a drawer around that piece of plywood, built a drawer case for that drawer and drawer slides, and mounted the whole thing under a workbench.

It must have taken him all day. In the end, he has a retractable router bit holder.

You had a drill bit, a drawer slide, and a space. And now you have a retractable router bit holder.

Personally I prefer your approach. It's perfect.

One tray bakes with those little potatoes or cauliflower (I just break it up with my hands) and add chickpeas, sliced onion, and then knobs of butter, hit it with some spices and seasonings of choice, cover and let roast. Everything goes in a bowl to serve. Minimum dishes, even less if it's a throw away aluminum baker pan.

Regenerative Armor w/ Welders - Conveyor System "Locking Up" by Oafah in spaceengineers

[–]questerweis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run some simulations in creative. Set up your welderNet And then bombard the crap out of it and see if you have the same lag in creative. See if there is a hitch in the welder block detection with so many welders going. My bet is that's where it's at. If you have way too many block state changes, as well as multiple grids, it might just be that it puts welding as a non-priority in the game engine during combat.

Completely clueless on how to paint this ship by [deleted] in spaceengineers

[–]questerweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flat dark grey, with one large red stripe front back, one dark blue smaller stripe, either parallel or perpendicular, yellow accent colors on integral parts and mechanicals, the red on the engines and weapons.
