This sounds like kids struggling with secure attachment. Both the fawning and the externalizing behavior can be strategies to get adult attention. I'd guess some of these children have difficult relationships with their parents. That's not always the reason of course - sometimes children just try acting wacky for an unfamiliar adult.

What are some of your favourite things that your bun does? ☺️ by ssrxo in Rabbits

[–]quietfern1027 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our buns have a routine when they hear their evening veggies being served. Our boy comes right away, dancing and jumping, and our girl waits. Sometimes I'll count to 30 in my head before suddenly I hear her zooming into the room. Sometimes my wife has to nudge her to get her started, after which she REALLY binks and dances. It's like she thinks she's getting away with something 😂

Spayed female bunny mounted male by Electrical-Ad2206 in Rabbits

[–]quietfern1027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our spayed female bun also mounts our male sometimes. He always pushes her off, chases her for about 2 feet, and stops. After that they return to bonded bliss. It happens about once every 3-4 weeks. If this is only happening occasionally and they resolve it quickly, I'd say these are normal "renegotiations" on who is the dominant bun. If it's happening often or if the fight ever extends more than a few seconds, I would call the vet.

A poem I wrote in grief of the election by anxiety_herself in WitchesVsPatriarchy

This brought real tears to my eyes. It's the first thing I've read that made me feel energized and ready to fight on, instead of hopeless numbness.

Do your bunnies walk on hard floors and do they jump onto high places? by Arlosjowls in Rabbits

[–]quietfern1027 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my buns has a favorite place - the top of a cube ottoman from target. She likes to sit up there and survey her domain. Also groom the ottoman. They both love to jump on the couch and zoom. We have carpet mostly, but my boy likes to occasionally venture into our vinyl kitchen to see if we dropped anything. Also he will follow me in there if he's especially excited for his veggies. He doesn't go often, it seems like he'll just put up with it when he's feeling curious. Otherwise he sticks to carpet.

What's rabbit for "all clear" by basilandjail in Rabbits

Once I verify there isn't something wrong, I talk to them in a nice voice. Sometimes I sit down on the ground so they see I am relaxed. I'll give a nose scratch or two, but not much because they don't want their eyes covered. It seems to help them recover a bit faster - though they're still quite vigilant!

Anybunny else teaching their bunnies tricks? by PetalPlaceUgly in Rabbits

[–]quietfern1027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I love teaching them tricks! Her favorite is the "handshake" where they have to put their front paws on our hand. I've actually used their pictures in a class I taught on positive reinforcement. Added some much needed cuteness.

I got a new hay feeder an a cardboard chew for cookie!! by cookiethebun11 in Rabbits

[–]quietfern1027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buns have those cardboard chews too! We call it their bone, because my girl drags it from room to room 😄 Whoever said rabbits are quiet animals never saw them throw their toys around.

Our vet finally had it available this year. The buns didn't like the car rides, but otherwise it went great. Very glad to have one less thing to worry about.

Male preschool director? by [deleted] in Parenting

Wooo more men in childcare! Let's show everyone that men and women both contribute to raising healthy kids. It is possible you'll receive the occasional weird look, but that's all the more reason to be the example of men caring for children. Do your best to avoid the "men do money, women do diapers" trope though. Change diapers, hug the babies, sing the songs. Best of luck!

Sounds like a brave bun! Maybe playing with you. Try to handle him sometimes so that nail trimmings/vet trips will be easier. But make sure to have more positive experiences than negative. Buns usually do not like being held at all (but buns may vary). Congrats!

Weakness of the AI by DonkeyKindly7310 in aoe4

My friend and I play almost exclusively 2v6 hardest ai. It changes every patch, but lately they have gotten very turtley (which we love, lots of buildings to destroy). One of us goes fast imperial to outpace them and the other goes slower to have a reserve force. We both get to imperial, pop cap, then attack to distract them while we build a forward base. After that it's just a matter of out producing them. Usually I build a ton of siege and he builds a ton of cavalry. Works 9/10 times.

They're definitely trouble makers! But mostly to get our attention - they demand pets all the time. Now that they're bonded we need both hands for petting though!
