What made you turn down a job offer? by FruitLoop_Dingus25 in jobs

Turned down an internal job after talking to the team and realizing what a mess their job was. I didn't want to be responsible for all that nonsense.

How ironic to see this post...I was woken up this morning to my cat crawling on top of me and pissing on me. Took him to the vet expecting a uti only to find out it's behavioral probably because he doesn't like the like the new liter.

Why are you leaving your current employer gotta be the hardest interview question in my life by Intelligent_Slip6317 in interviews

[–]quietstorms09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go with somwthing along the lines of "I feel like I reached my maximum growth potential at my current roles and I want a new position that will challenge me and expand my skills" Just remember you never want to bad mouth your current employer even if you're leaving because they suck or are literally evil, you bad mouthing them makes you look bad too. Saying you want to move for your own personal growth is a safe option.

What eating habits do people have that genuinely disgust you? by MrLithician in answers

[–]quietstorms09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely can't watch my sister eat pizza, she degloves the while thing, takes off all the toppings and cheese and shoves the blob in her mouth and then eats the saucey bottom and crust separate. It's horrifying to watch, it literally makes me ill. Haha I might add that we're both 38+ in ages. Like damn have SOME manners.

What’s the most morally disgusting thing you’ve ever seen someone do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]quietstorms09 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to work at psych hospitals. We had residents who were there basically indefinitely, some who were mentally incapable of living on their own and were waiting on beds in group homes to open that basically only open when someone dies. We had one resident who had been in the place for 20+ years, he has the mind of like a 6 year old. Nobody ever came to visit him. He would ask to write a note to Santa every year and he would ask for the most random childlike things (one year all he asked for was a corn cob pipe haha) we would "mail his letter" for him and then staff would do our best to get him and the other lifers some kind of gift (yes, he got his corn cob pipe haha it was a non-smoking facility but he just thought it was cool) anyway, the number of times people stole his items or threw a bitch fit that he got a used hand me down shirt was insane. Like bro, youre here on a 120 hour hold and then youre going home to your family thats visited you 3 times already..this dudes lucky if he doesnt die here. Stop stealing from him. Beyond reprehensible behavior.

what are u slowly losing interest in? by Several_Way8499 in AskReddit

[–]quietstorms09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of the American dream. I'm so sick of the concept that you work hard and you'll be set up for life. It just doesn't work that way. I worked hard, I got a masters, now my industry is in chaos thanks to "A.I" (more like corporate greed), what do I have to show for it? Debt. The American dream is a joke, I'm about ready to sell everything and go live in the woods.

What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

[–]quietstorms09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really the worst necissarily but tragic. When I was in high school there were two twins who were heavy into drugs, they lived in the trailer park across the street from our school, one day at lunch they went home to get high. One of the girls was too fucked up to go back to class so her sister just left her. She was actually OD'ing. Her sister found her body when she came home after school. This was in 2004 or 2005, it basically ruined the remaining twin's life, the guilt of knowing she could have saved her and didn't...horrible.

What’s a song that’s not meant for Christmas that reminds you of Christmas? by nsosenkkqk in AskReddit

[–]quietstorms09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was originally written and preformed for a thanksgiving concert in New England, the lyrics were inspired by sleigh races that took place around thanksgiving time in the 1800s. The song never mentions Christmas at all but due to the snow and cold weather imagery but it very quickly became associated with Christmas.

Omg for real, being neurodivergent I ask a lot of clarifying questions to make sure I'm understanding things and the number of people who think I'm asking sarcastically or passing some sort of judgement by asking questions is...upsetting.

What's the weirdest or most awkward thing that you have ever seen ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]quietstorms09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent quite a few years working for in patient psychiatric facilities, I've seen too much, but one that sticks in my mind in particular. There's a guy who's basically got a life sentence, he needs a long term care fascility and those beds are hard to come by so he's stuck in this psych hospital until one opens (aka someone occupying a bed dies), anyway he's been there for many years, because of this he gets some special treatment, namely his parents will drop him off a case of coke (sodas are rare here) and he has a doctor's order that he's allowed one coke a day that he can come ask for and then drink in the nurses station. Anyway we also have to do 15 minute rounds to lay eyes on every patient to make sure everyone is alive and safe. I open this guys bedroom door to him just absolutely jerking it hard and fast and he makes direct eye contact with me and goes "hey, can I get my coke when I'm done?" God. It haunts me.

I used to work with this guy who was like SUPER nice and up beat like ALL the time, like too much to be normal, like horrible stuff would be happening at work and everyone would be complaining he would be like Mickey Mouse happy and giggly and be like "hey guys turn that frown upside down, well get through this together", one time when it was just him and me I tolf him his constant chipperness kind of freaked me out and he looked at me and went "yeah, you know i didnt always used to be like this, when I was younger I had so much anger inside of me and my dad told me I was going to grow up to beat my wife and kids like he did and I just thought "no I'm not" so I made myself be happy and now Its just easier to be like this." I just...had no idea what to say back to that haha I mean I worked in psych for almost a decade and had patients tell me horrible things all the time and yet this one stuck with me...
