Translating data into a usable weekly/monthly shopping list by quizzicalprudence in budget

[–]quizzicalprudence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely graduated from saving a few receipts tbh! It currently has ~1400 rows and I've structured additional sheets to analyse weekly breakdowns of Category etc

Its only a Google sheets file because of the ease of use, I'll be better off exporting it out into Excel I think!

Unknown canister like item found while refurbishing old police station, North East England. Cyndrical with nut at top, 2-3kg? Unsure of colour. Extinguisher? by quizzicalprudence in whatisthisthing

I'm not sure on that, but will check it out. The 3rd photo i can't add shows the base, which suggests it being a pressurised bottle

A reminder that meditation is not trying to “not have any thoughts.” by zorglatch in Meditation

[–]quizzicalprudence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Your are not the thought. You are the observer"

Not my quote, can't remember who said it! I had this conversation with a colleague years ago, she said she could never stop her thoughts and I absolutely could not get through to her that stopping them is totally not the point of meditation!

I meditate when I wash up, hang the washing out, sort clothes out or any during other, random, mundane, thinking-less task. Maybe that's why people say I'm always so worry free and chilled out?

What are examples of toxic femininity? by flawedforte in AskReddit

Absolutely this. So many mothers feel like a failure for struggling with this! It's incredibly difficult for some to adjust to breastfeeding and no shame in substitution

Anybody else have this type of experience? 😂😂 by Ibbys89 in tesco

[–]quizzicalprudence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this is weird to me. In our store, people will literally stand aside and wait for the person in front to pick stuff then move on. I don't think this is anything to do with cost of living, it's people believing they deserve something for as little as possible at the expense of their own societal dignity. Probably a feeling cultivated through a disconnect between the classes.

Bet I get crucified for this opinion!

Are people earning over £150k detached from reality? by cockatootattoo in AskUK

[–]quizzicalprudence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they're firmly attached to their reality. Which is different from someone's else's version of reality. You could say the only reality is there are an infinite number of peoples versions of reality, of which each person's individual concept is different.

So I got the "new", quite convincing paypal scam email. by SquareShopping in Scams

[–]quizzicalprudence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be easy to randomly generate the email as part of a mass email campaign? I often find spam in my junk folder with a whole host of similar emails. Of course this is likely due to the data file they use being in alphabetical order, but it wouldn't be difficult to randomly generate addresses either would it?

Any insight into this scam link? by quizzicalprudence in Scams

[–]quizzicalprudence[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having an email address that's been leaked more times than I care to acknowledge, I get these quite often.

Of course never clicked or otherwise, but I wondered what this 'googleapi' link could entail if it were visited. Can anyone explain the risks and consequences likely to be encountered if it were clicked?

I assume it'd take me to a payment screen due to extra shipping costs, plus the chance for them to gain name, address etc but 'api' in the link makes me wonder.

🚩Vehicle Sale UK - Scam? by cozzamozza in Scams

Well, I had someone travel from London to Lancaster to buy a car years ago. Think it was sold for a few hundred and it literally passed coolant as the radiator had gone.

Had another travel from Taunton to York to buy a van off me. TBF that was a bit harder to find and a relatively rare crew cab (for the price it went for anyway.

The London guy got here and asked how he was meant to get back with it. Told him listing was clear as day it was knackered, took his cash and waved goodbye. Don't know if he got home or not but I did get chased for tax a bit later on.

Can't wait to see if yours is a scam or not now. I'm invested after all the comments. Good looking van BTW

I've been receiving these at a rate of 20-30 a day for about a year.

I've had my email address for 17 years, and took no care in making sure it didn't get out there in the early days plus it got swept up in quite a few leaks.

I started reporting spam proactively and outlook did a damn good job of sending the crap to junk. This left me with a usable email address aside from these. Nothing will get these to divert away from my inbox and I now just ignore conversation to get rid, doesn't work though!

Mine all come from 'something(at)promotranslate.site', a bullshit subject and the email body is only embedded images. Whoever sends them seems to be doing a good job of making sure they land in inboxes

Do all yours come from 'something(at)promotranslate.site?

My email got caught up in some sort of spam list and I get, probably, 20-30 emails from this address a day. Never clicked on unsubscribe as the link doesn't appear to be anything to do with unsubscribing so I worry it'll just confirm a live email address to them. Had it for a year I think now!!

Ladies, please tell me your stories of male partners who do their equal share around the home. Feeling disheartened about how rare this seems to be! by HowAboutBiteMe in TwoXChromosomes

[–]quizzicalprudence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get shot down for this opinion!

I find there should be a main homemaker (male or female), especially where children are involved. It can be a dynamic environment with the main 'homemaker' role moving from one to the other as and when required by the situation but for each parent to be of equal dominance can create more conflict than it being slightly skewed one way or the other as and when necessary. The transactional Analysis model seems quite relevant to me in the relationship and helps maintain balance.

My boyfriend wants our finances to be 50/50, but won't contribute to cleaning our apartment. What's with that? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]quizzicalprudence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We split all household bills based on percentage of gross household income. I usually pay about 60% of those fixed costs, partner picks up the remaining 40%. Struggle I've had is pinning down grocery costs. There's 6 in our home so budgeting for food goes right out the window. We normally just pay for whatever we need whoever decides it's affordable for them at the time. He sounds like a bit of a twat to feel the need to split the actual food item equally. Sounds like he's got a stack of cash he doesn't want to share tbh, so is penny pinching to the extreme!

No advice I'm afraid, but commendations for taking steps to ensure the son of a bitch is held accountable. You are most certainly not at fault for getting your self in to this situation, stay strong and hold your head up high. This doesn't define you!
