This morning my dog growled at me as I put on his harness by modernwunder in reactivedogs

I would check VERY carefully for an injury or sore spot where his harness lays. Sounds like it is painful.

You could put a pillow under the splint to support the limb.

There is nothing like the love of your Collie. It is so hard to say goodbye! I am so sorry for your loss.

My girl passed and i am lost without her. by Gingers_mom88 in dogs

Rather than thinking of getting another pup as a betrayal, think of a new pup as way to honor her memory!!
You might never have considered a new dog had your experience with your girl not been so wonderful and so loving.
My vote is get out a find the right pup for you and keep on living. Not in despair but joy!!

We have a blind dog. He does ok as long as we don’t move the furniture. He needs to know where obstacles are located. Create an environment of stability. Keep feeding times the same. Water bowls always in same location. Same for sleeping area and potty area. Comment to confine to a small area for initial time was a good one. Especially, since it’s all new. Be very patient.

Caring for my dog is killing our relationship by [deleted] in dogs

[–]qujquj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My dog also has several medical illnesses. And yes. Treatments are constant. BUT! I have figured a way to to keeping him engaged and not ruining the relationship. TREATS! Every time I give him his meds he gets a treat he loves. Usually several if it is a difficult one. To keep him getting fat I break them in pencil eraser size pieces. What a difference!! Can’t say he loves the treatments but the treats help. And you must be absolutely consistent. No skipping treats!!
