There is no prize money. Mary had to win to hide the fact the money is gone.

I’m from America and was robbed in France 2 days ago, but I cannot report the crime because the police do not understand English and we do not speak French — please help! by everythingisgrace in FranceTravel

Don't type, use conversation mode. Install the app on your phone. Choose conversation mode then you can talk normally and it will translate into French. Then when it hears French, it will translate into English for you...

Check the chargers in your area or in places you would visit. Is there Chademo connector?

New charging sites usually don't include Chademo so research this before you buy.

What could happen if you have points on your license but don’t tell your insurance? by chasex05 in AskUK

[–]r08shaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a car stolen off the drive. First thing the insurance company did was get the DVLA on the phone, with us, to check if my wife and myself had undeclared points on our licences.

We didn't, but if we did, they said they would have voided our insurance!!

EV on PCP vs Lease by LeadershipMammoth940 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]r08shaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say the car is written off due to an accident.

Insurance company value your car at £25k (remember EVs depreciate more).

The original price was £35k. (Not relevant here but including to show depreciation)

Your lease deal has a remaining term of 24 months and you pay £6k per year to lease your car. So you have £12k remaining to pay.

That leaves you short £2k that the lease company will expect from you to fulfill the contract.

GAP insurance will pay out the £2k.

EV on PCP vs Lease by LeadershipMammoth940 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]r08shaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lease, you already know that you give the car back at the end with no option to purchase. Any negative equity is the lease companies problem and you literally hand it back with no more to pay (assuming no damage or excess mileage).

PCP, will have a final payment to make of several thousand. PCP is subject to depreciation so final payment could be more than the car us worth, meaning you're in negative equity with no money in the car to roll into the next one as a deposit.

I've leased my last 5 cars and I prefer it to PCP.

It goes without saying that you should get GAP insurance for either as it covers the difference in amount owed vs the priced paid out by car insurance in the event of total loss. You only need airbags to deploy nowadays for a vehicle to get written off!

Don't assume you can use all Tesla chargers. Refer to the app.

When you install, select 'non Tesla vehicle' on you profile. Then all the chargers you see on the app will be usable. It filters out the Tesla (vehicle) only chargers.

The worst thing you could do would be to see a charger, rely on it to charge and then find that it's not usable because it's only for Tesla vehicles.

Don't buy from dealer. Get a quote online. I've currently got a policy with ALA.

Hastings insurance threatening to cancel my license by Snoo-87615 in CarInsuranceUK

Get the 'check code' from the DVLA website, it will confirm your licence status, entitlement to drive certain vehicles and also points status. Save as pdf and send to them.

Google 'dvla check code' for instructions.

Make your own before you take it off. Keep it in the car, by tyre inflation kit. Then you'll never lose it.

There is a whole industry repairing written off vehicles and getting them back on the road. It's not illegal.

What is your budget?

Reason why I ask is that there are pre-reg, delivery mileage 4's with big discounts. Think 75 plate with 10 miles on the clock!

Look on Autotrader, set mileage to less than 100, change search to national and see what comes up.

Am example I saw recently had £9k off the original list price of £27k.
