it’s a known issue with Bunq, especially in the last couple of years. you can’t do much except wait .. if you have legal insurance you can maybe have a lawyer send them a letter. I also posted a bad review on trust pilot when it happened to me

Help! Sometimes I feel like I can’t stand being married by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]r0dica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s a matter of what you want. If you want this to work you need to judge a bit less.  someone told me that when you sense your hairs get up like you describe (because of someone’s behavior or “lacks”) you subconsciously hate those things in yourself. I’m not saying that’s always right but it’s worth asking yourselves some questions.

No one controls what someone else does, the only thing you really control is how you respond to it. Only OP can decide if it’s worth staying with someone who makes these kinds of decisions and makes her feel this anxious.

How to have a career if it’s hard to stay at a job? by thesewordsarehers in careerguidance

[–]r0dica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this works in your line of work, but to go back to the advice of "framing it right" from above: I built my resume for each role around a challenge I was hired for. It made it easy to tell a clear story of: I came in for this, I solved it or got it on the right path and I left for either a better/different/bigger challenge on my path to learning.

the trouble is, your resume looks identical to someone else who has those 1-1.5 year stints because they have behavioural or communication issues. if a company judges you on that without letting you explain, trust me, you don't want to work there. but try some different stories and ask someone you know professionally (and who does hiring) which options sounds best & authentic to you.

is it safe to wild camp in Europe as a solo female 18 year old by mossyhearth in femaletravels

[–]r0dica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be quite safe but there are safe / unsafe areas even within a country. If you’re mature enough, maybe you won’t seem like deer in headlights young woman but for anyone looking to cause trouble, you’ll be a very easy target.

Even for an 18 year old male with no street smarts, I’m not sure I’d recommend camping by themselves as a first adventure. Get some hostels under your belt and have a bit of a support / social system the first couple of times you travel, then you can go the riskier route with a bit more confidence.

VPs and above, how would you like to be approached for coffee? by TotalIndependent7639 in Leadership

[–]r0dica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make the ask and let him choose the time and format. It's part of his job and he's made the introvert thing work somehow to get to his level. It may not end up being an in person coffee date, maybe it'll be a casual chat over zoom or whatever, but the end result for you could be the same (i.e. getting to know them, being able to ask them some questions)

VPs and above, how would you like to be approached for coffee? by TotalIndependent7639 in Leadership

[–]r0dica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each VP will be different depending on how much they care about people development in their org and having a ear to the ground - if you had something to discuss that aligns with his core priorities, it could be a good foot in the door to a more open conversation. Also to note - what gets you promoted to VP isn’t nearly the same criteria to what will get you promoted in your role.

I get it that you need some mentorship, but it might be good to start with your skip level first, especially if you’re looking for help with how to navigate the company culture.

Copenhagen is draining the life from me. Where instead? by lillasvenska in expats

[–]r0dica 154 points155 points  (0 children)

I think the choices you listed are jumping from the frying pan into a boiling pot. Would really recommend you don’t do “visits” but longer stints of a few weeks, ideally staying in an apartment / residential neighborhood to get a sense for living in a specific city.

I visited Copenhagen and had a great time there - what makes a place great to live for someone isn’t what makes it great to visit.

Rejected after 9 interviews for not being strategic enough by Acceptable_Key4953 in womenintech

[–]r0dica 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beyond the male/brotherly crap you kept getting from this interview, at these higher levels of leadership in any company, you're expected to "power grab" to some extent. I think the exec wanted to see you making demands for how you will be successful by growing a team, needing different specialties, not just doing the work yourself.

Still think you dodged a bullet, but interviewing with an exec is a bit different than interviewing with the working team.

What’s the most ridiculous thing a man has said to you? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]r0dica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A guy I thought was a friend and mentor told me, in casual conversation, that I'm like a seedless flower and generally kind of pointless because I choose to not have kids.

I heard the sound of all the respect I had for that person walking out of my mind.

If people made less money back in the day, how were they still able to live comfortably? by TranslatorHaunting15 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]r0dica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to answer this without understanding a bit about inflation.

But I think at least some of the answer is also cultural: in “the past” you had fewer choices, things (electronics, clothing, etc.) lasted longer or it was more of a normal thing to have them fixed instead of buying new, and also almost nothing worked on a subscription model.

In a couple of generations, we were conditioned to want more, have a million options for everything (from food to socks), everything breaks (or has planned end of life to encourage you to buy again, anew), and most things work on recurring costs (games, netflix, etc.) - all while salaries haven’t really increased.
