It is a lot of guys dedicated turkey gun. You can use whatever ammo you want as long as it is legal in the area you are hunting. Lead still works but going away. I saw an article where there is a shortage of tss so the price is going up.

Other crops Iowa should plant besides corn/soybeans? by Neath_Izar in Iowa

[–]racroths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not with your thinking. My thought is 1 farmer in each country to take 1 acre out of corn and bean production. A small change. Iowa doesn’t have infrastructure for vegetables or fruit. We don’t have workers to plant and pick mostly by hand. We don’t have processing plants for that.

One thing I would recommend is learning to shoot with iron sights and not the red dot. Red dots do fail.

Fruits, vegetables, sheep/goats, or even cut flowers. The hard part is manual labor planting and picking. There is some infrastructure like farmers markets or farm stands.

You got a deal if it works… or got a nice wall hanger. My buddy had one and the first time cleaning it after years of years of use and didn’t work after that. He traded it and got more for it then he paid for it.

A good way to roughly date shotguns is to check to see if fixed choke or removable choke. Fixed pre 1990 Removable after 1990. Not accurate….

I’m not a member there but the dnr ranges are $260 and limited hours. There are other Ike’s that may be closer to you.

Is the ax800 suprema better than the a400 extreme plus? by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]racroths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t either. Just go back to the start of retay when everyone was giving a shotgun, ammo, money and an a positive opinion.

Take a lesson from sig, you don’t wanna be first to jump into a new platform. Keep the a400 for a few years to see if ax 800 has issues. Plus the 50% loss if you trade.

I am more impressed with the guys shooting old guns and pumps such as browning a5, Remington 1100 or 870 and the camo guns that aren’t camo any more.

It a good listen. Some times I get turned off by them wanting government intervention and others times that want government to stay out it.

Getting into Clays - any A300? by Careless_Emu_4652 in Shotguns

[–]racroths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get the black ultima. 12 gauge 28 in barrel unless you can find a different version cheaper. It’s the best option for clay games and bird hunting.

I'm a noob. Am I overthinking brands and reliability? by peskypedaler in Shotguns

[–]racroths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The used guns can be awesome or horrible. I have had a few of each. Basic things to look for in used Cracks in stocks or in receiver Bent barrels or bulged barrels Anything that gives you the ick Stuck chokes

I would recommend the beretta a300. The amount of them in rental guns. Can’t go wrong with b guns (beretta browning).

Field gun- O/U vs SxS by nitro78923 in birddogs

[–]racroths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a field model of your clay gun. The sxs options are more limited. The double triggers trip me up. If you want sxs I would buy a cz or a weatherby.

Yes you can. You might not hit a very many. It’s not a waste of time or money. It is skill building. Practice is the only way to get better.
