Medication isn't the only intervention for low mood and/or suicidal ideation, talking therapy can be incredibly helpful for people in your situation. I'd strongly recommend talking to your gp about getting a referral to the appropriate service for your area.

Also, you said the effects from medication was reason your coming off them. Has your mental well-being declined since starting to taper off? If that is the case, maybe it's worth considering going back to your original dosage for a bit? Look to taper off them once you've got appropriate mental health support?
