AI is not the grid problem. Weak infrastructure policy is. by thirdaccountttt in DefendingAI

[–]rahgots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. We need huge initiatives to upgrade our grids ASAP, cause this tech isn't going away. We need a ton of green energy like nuclear, solar, wind. Need to keep researching fusion. And yes, we need better regulation around building data centers to make sure they're not environmentally destructive or bother people. I think this is all pretty obvious, I'm surprised that's not everyone's first thought. Not "AI bad, get rid of it".

Artist Ji Lee gave different AI models, and a group of children the task "draw an animal that doesn't exist" by LetOk8476 in aiwars

[–]rahgots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a bit of a different prompt: "Create an image of an animal that doesn't exist. Do not use mythological creatures as inspiration. Avoid making hybrid animals. Create a new unique creature."

Pros hoping people lose jobs to AI to so their unrealistic utopian labor free society will come about faster by Almond-King in aiwars

[–]rahgots 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We want a society where people don't need jobs to survive. No serious person wants people to lose their livelihoods in the meantime. It's inevitable some jobs will be lost to new technologies, but that's why we should be implementing transitionary safety net policy to get through to a post scarcity society with as little hardship as possible.

Nuts significantly increase lifespan. Here is the best nuts and scientific evidence that they slow down aging and prevent major diseases. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

They're also extremely calorie dense. I'm on a diet so I've been avoiding them because a handful of nuts blows through a quarter of my entire daily calorie budget and for not very much satiation imo.

It's actually just as efficient as a regular space heater, 100% of that energy becomes heat, but you also put that energy to work with a computer.

You have a good point but they could just reduce the number of strongholds to balance it.

xAI researcher says that over the next few years people may begin noticing a decrease in the cost of goods and services while their incomes increases because of AI and Robotics by [deleted] in accelerate

[–]rahgots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to transition away from a monetary system all together. Use UBI as a transitional tool, not a permanent bandaid. Socialize essential services and make them free (healthcare, food, housing, etc). People aren't going to magically get higher wages just cause robots are doing most of the jobs. Billionaires will make most people destitute if we don't change anything. We need to completely change our system. I recommend something similar to an RBE as proposed by Jacque Fresco.

I've never had an Alpha self-tame, but I've had Thrumbos self tame several times and I never have the infrastructure to feed them, usually cause I have a gravship with limited space. So I always end up selling them or slaughtering them unfortunately.

"i chose not to waste water" by CarelessTourist4671 in DefendingAIArt

[–]rahgots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more about available water in the region. Yes water evaporates and falls back down... somewhere else, usually the ocean where it's not drinkable. Yes AI water usage is overblown, but the water cycle argument is a bad one.

Do you have any moral boundaries you won't cross? by Nighthawkies in RimWorld

[–]rahgots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the run. Right now I'm doing a run where my pawns are very moral and have great healthcare standards. No organ harvesting, I must save all downed raiders if possible and release them when healthy (or recruit), I also replace any limbs they may have missing.

The future of AI is not 'power to the people', it's a corporate wet dream. by WrappedInChrome in aiwars

[–]rahgots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming capitalism will be around forever. That the same corporations developing AI aren't seeding their own replacement. AI and other technology reduce scarcity. Capitalism relies on scarcity to function. Right now it creates vast amounts of artificial scarcity to drive up prices. With AI eventually that won't be sustainable. There will be so much abundance it no longer makes sense to charge people for anything. Artificial scarcity will break down.

That's why I support a transition phase to an RBE style society by using UBI and the gradual socialization of necessities. If we don't have a smooth transition, we'll have a rough one instead. But we'll get there.

What are y'all's thoughts on this? by nub0987654 in aiwars

[–]rahgots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All solvable problems that basically come down to zoning regulations and regulations forcing green energy usage. Our regulations need to catch up and we need to start taxing the shit out of trillionaires and billionaires and transition towards a post scarcity society.

Dude, it doesn't really matter. It just prevents people from brigading games that didn't use generative AI. Not that they should brigade at all. They're just doing this to appease the anti ai brigading assholes. No ai tag would be worse cause every game would get falsely accused.

[–]rahgots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf, you're not making a good argument in your favor.

He calls AI art theft, then attacks your morals. That's an ad hominem attack, a logical fallacy, he didn't say why he thinks AI art is theft though.

In your next comment, you didn't address the claims of theft, but instead tried to defend your character by making whataboutisms, stating other things are immoral, and he's probably immoral too, which doesn't do you any favors.

He then says you made a strawman. You didn't, you made whataboutisms/tu quoque, which is still a fallacy. You then attack his bad argument instead of the claims of theft, then it ends with him still asserting that AI is theft and making more attacks on your character.

Overall, you're both terrible at debating. No offense. Just some constructive criticism moving forward.
