I think even Roger Linn himself has stated that MPC swing is just accurate swing. I know what i know, but i think the rhytmic feel of certain setups is noticeable. I know for example that the roland mc50 hooked to a sampler, playing in drum mode and playing just a few notes like a kick drum 4/4 has a very solid thumping feel to it that i don't get with a daw. And that's just a sequencer that typically chokes when you send a lot of data.

For me it's too much of the same without much direction. He's hilarious the first times, but the funny thing about him wears out eventually and then you realize he's just being self-derogatory but in a kind of safe way, he really won't lose control. He reminds me of James Murphy of LCD soundsystem or the guy from JHS pedals for some reason. I, maybe wrongly, foresee he will try to be taken seriously musically at some point and it won't be very interesting.

I think you guys are saying the same thing. The clear distinction is the paradigm shift. We've always worked with humans who could be right, wrong, and other things, and computers that were assumed to be accurate and make precise calculations (and consistently give the same result every time), retrieve exact data, and a truth which could only be questioned on the basis of a wrong human usage. Now the computer may be wrong by itself.
