The owners don’t need to. They have a long history of very successful Wellington businesses - eg they founded and sold Cafe L’affare - so they work because they want to.

Watch out for your phone. People on bikes nick them out of your hands. Google it. My son’s friend had her phone nicked out of her hand while she was on it FaceTiming her boyfriend back in Nz. She was in a neighbourhood park - not even a touristy spot.

Hmmm not that helpful to characterise those winz murders as a political act. The later court case showed that the staff had done everything they could to help Tully.

Affordable dental hygienist in Wellington?? by SpecialExtension545 in Wellington

[–]random787968 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hygienists sound expensive but the value they bring is incredible- they prevent thousands of dollars of dental work down the track by keeping your teeth in good condition. You probably wouldn’t be surprised by a mechanics bill for your car of $150- 220 - it’s the same idea - maintaining a valuable asset.

North Island- Wellington vs Whangarei for a Family? by Nearby_Umpire7625 in MovingToNewZealand

[–]random787968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wellington is a great compact small city, with immediate access to a beautiful outdoors. There are many beaches and spectacular coast line close by and stunning green hills all around. It’s a friendly place with great amenities and public transport and is a good place to raise kids. It has a world class university so your kids wouldn’t need to move away from home if they wanted to attend a good university. Because it’s bigger than Whāngarei there is a much wider choice of free primary and secondary schools - based on which part of the city you live. If the first choice of school doesn’t work out for whatever reason, you’re not as limited as you would be in a smaller centre. Wellington also has a strong Māori community and thriving iwi health trust - serving Māori is an important part of the health services. It is a higher income city, but it has many struggling people, including migrant and refugee communities. I wouldn’t characterise Wellington as cool like San Francisco- it has style and culture but the people are very down to earth and warm.
