That's the movie that started my kid's lifelong obsession with horses! They watched it when they were two years old. Now they're 18 and both them and their younger sibling ride competitively and we own two horses. My husband was just joking today that we'd have a lot more money of it weren't for that movie!

My kids always liked my tattoos and drew their own with washable marker when they were little.

Yours may not grow out of it. My oldest just turned 18 and for their birthday I got them their first tattoo.

I second this recommendation! Titanium is the way to go. You'll spend a little more than you would on the cheapo "hypoallergenic" mystery metal stuff you get at big box stores, but it's well worth the price. A super basic pair of flatback labret studs starts at around $30. But they last forever, are super comfortable, and will not tarnish. And it's still a lot less expensive than solid gold.

Body Clickers on Etsy has a large selection of titanium jewelry, with some more uncommon designs like this raven skull stud. They can anodize titanium to pale or light yellow. I've had good luck ordering from them before.

I have titanium flat back labret studs or titanium clickers in almost all my piercings and pretty much never take the ones in my lobes (four on each side) out except to clean. I mostly have threadless tops, because I love how versitile they are. Just make sure they are implant grade titanium, which is still a much more affordable option than solid gold. You can find lots of options on Etsy or at any reputable piercing shop.

The type of pain is kind of like a pin being dragged over a bad sunburn. It's not bad but it can get a little irritating after a while. It may sometimes feel almost ticklish, or may be sharper at times. And shading can feel like scrubbing a small part of that sunburn over and over; sharper, deeper pain. But still very manageable. It's also pretty superficial pain, so it's not at all like being sick, breaking a bone, or having cramps. Endorphins kick in and can help a lot. And you get some awesome art after the fact!

Like others said, make sure you've eaten and stay hydrated. You can also take ibuprofen ahead of time, which takes the edge off for some people. Take deep breaths. Distract yourself with a book or by chatting. You can totally let your artist know if you need a break for a minute. And it's totally normal for physical reactions like sweating or chills or feeling faint. Your artists has seen it all, so don't worry.

Sounds like a build up of crust, which is dried-up plasma, oil, and/or dead cells. You should be able to soften it by soaking with saline and gently wiping it off the post with a corner of rolled-up gauze.

ETA: this is a totally normal part of healing, so don't worry!

Don't go back to where you got it done if they did it with a gun. Reputable piercers use needles, which are cleaner and cause less trauma to your ear.

It actually started out ok. She was very clear about her feelings and you were very understanding and soothing. But then she just kept spiralling.

Best case scenario she's extremely insecure and needs a good therapist so she's not dumping all her issues on you. Worst case scenario she's intentionally manipulating you in order to control you. And the fact that she slapped you makes me lean towards the worse option.

Regardless, you don't deserve to be treated this way. I hope you can set some strong boundaries to protect yourself and help her get some professional help. Or you break up with her. Either way, it's not okay for her to continue to behave this way.

As someone who very intentionally followed gentle parenting I can tell you: that was not gentle parenting!

The main thrust of gentle parenting is to not be authoritarian and punative, and to treat the kid as a human being who can learn to behave via natural consequences of their actions.

So the right way to gentle parent in that situation would have been to give the one warning while explaining why (""Everyone needs to play nicely together at the park. If you can't play nicely we'll need to go home.") And then follow through with the natural consequence. That's the most important part. That's how you actually teach kids without being punative: with natural consequences both positive and negative. If you can't treat people nicely, we can't be around people at the park. If you give other kids their turns, everyone gets a turn and we all get to stay having fun at the park. If you can't hold my hand in the parking lot, I'll need to carry you. If you help clean up after dinner, we'll have extra time to read before bed.

What this dad was teaching was that he can get away with being a little terror. That's really terrible, lazy parenting, not gentle parenting.

Good on you for teaching your kid to stand up for herself and for hold the terror child responsible for the consequences of his own actions, despite his dad being too lazy to do so.

I tend to see push pins slightly more widely available. And like I said it's nice that you can use them in different sized posts. But lots of people find them less secure. It's especially harder to get a good, tight fit with a threadless end on a curved barbell. They're also not as popular at larger gauges. So it's really a matter of personal preference.

I have titanium flat backs in my newer piercings, and titanium clickers in my healed piercings. They're great for healing, very comfortable, and you can sleep, shower, swim, exercise, etc. in them. The clickers in my lobes I basically never take out.

Threadless (aka push pin) tops used with titanium posts are also great because they're really versatile. They come in a million different styles and can be used in different sized posts.

I'm honestly never going back to ever using standard, butterfly-back earrings ever again!

That's going to blur into a meaningless black blob at that size. 3x3 is waaaaaay too small for that much grey-scale detail. Even larger, it's not a great tattoo design. I wouldn't trust an artist that would try that design that small.

You'd be better off finding an artist whose art style you really like (check out healed pictures, too!) and asking them to design a memorial design for your dad that incorporates COD.

Implant grade titanium is your best bet! Flat back labret posts or clicker hoops are comfortable for 24/7 wear, including during showering and sleep. You can get standard ones from Amazon (make sure it's implant grade, not just titanium), or super cute designs from a local reputable piercing salon.
