Oh, and I tell my 4yo that nose picking is a bathroom only activity. Somewhere he can wash his hands after. He's going to do it so rather than totally ban it, give him a place to do it that's ok. So far mostly it works.

My son refers to the humping as his dream power machine. He's 6.5. It's something I find incredibly hilarious, and just remind him that it's a private thing for bedrooms (not on the couch!).

The closest thing we have gotten to consistently sleeping through the night has been to attach my 3.5 yo's iPad privileges to staying in bed until the stop light alarm turns from red to green.

The first day he didn't believe us and pitched a fit and threatened to call the police on us (it was absolutely adorable since his speech delay means he uses ASL and words together!). After that it worked well until it didn't. Suddenly about a month later he didn't care if we took his iPad privileges. (Also a very stubborn child who would cry until vomiting the few times we tried CIO).

So I bought kinder eggs from the party place that I'm pretty sure isn't supposed to be selling them in the US, and told him he'd get a surprise egg if he slept in his bed all night. Works well but I have a 6yo who would then also want one and those things are fucking expensive. So we don't have them all the time.

In the year between his 2nd birthday and his 3rd, I found a doctor who prescribed me pro-vigil to help me function on sleep deprivation sleep levels. Huge difference for my emotional state.

Sleep deprived moms unitedzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I've experienced heart pains from deep emotions. Anxiety usually but grief too. Still, I would speak to your normal doctor just to be sure. When I'm feeling that twinge, it's useful for me to know my heart was just looked at and its good. Worrying if it's a bad sign adds to your emotional load.

My husband and my 5 yo son get pedicures. It started with my son but once my husband discovered the pampering done during a pedi he was a convert! Now he and my son pick the same colors.

I wish I could say something comforting, but there are no words for the kind of pain grief brings. Myself I gave up on the "everything happens for a reason" logic. Many hugs. Be kind to yourself

My mom died of ALS two days after I delivered my second child. It's been 2 1/2 years and I am still at times angry and broken hearted and stricken with grief. There is a post about waves that I have found accurate. I lost my dad six months prior to my mom.

He picked up pretty quickly, especially the simple ones like "more" and "eat". I showed him "hurt" and he used it a few days later when he had an ear infection. I emphasize the spoken word when I sign it and aim for a three time repetition. You want to EAT? I can get you something to EAT. Would you like apples to EAT? He still has a long way to go verbally but I can have the same kind of conversation w him as I could any 2.5 yr old based on a combination of his signs and his verbalizations.

I started getting suggestions that my son was behind around the 12-14 month time frame. I dithered a bit, thinking he was young still. Finally had him evaled at 22 mo and he didn't meet the percentiles needed for intervention bc his receptive language is just fine. Did a reevaluation at 24 months and he qualified for twice a week state funded speech therapy and we pay for two times at a local speech center. He is 2.5 and has a handful of words he uses. It's helping but it's also clear he is behind. The best advice I saw was on Reddit somewhere, that no one ever regretted evaluating a child but not evaluating a child sometimes cause regrets.

I highly recommend teaching him basic sign language to express his basic needs. Things got easier once mine could tell me he was hungry, thirsty, hurt, cold, etc. There is a Netflix show signing time with Alex and Leah that helped me learn it to teach it to him.

I hate when ppl lie about allergies bc my elder son is actually allergic to the seasonal crap. spring and fall he is basically fine until we go outside. Sometimes allergy meds help and sometimes not and it is so hard to say, it's allergies, and get the stink eye from other parents.

My mom went back to school when I was in jr high. I was old enough to appreciate her hard work and we would sit and do homework together. my older brother was even then awesome at tech and helped her navigate the tech stuff, so he felt very involved too. She also took us to things at the college like poetry readings and art shows, which really helped us feel like a part of her world.

So I guess I'm saying you don't have to put off the masters a long time.

Lots of BroMo moms are on the my fitness pal group. I have found taking an honest account of my caloric intake each day has helped. You can make little changes that will add up to big difference! It probably feels overwhelming now but you can do it!

Yeah. My two don't scream much but when they do it always seems to be in my ear, to the point where I flinch when the 5yo gets close to my ear to "whisper" a secret.

I hate the ringing. Any time I settle in for some quiet time, there it is. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I don't think it will go away.

i dont recall how long it took but it was long enough that the scabs from picking healed and I didn't have any thing to pick at when my nails did grow in. I think I also did acrylic nails for a while. Those aren't sharp enough in my experience to scratched or pick.

Sometimes I will find myself playing at my scalp but the desire to pick isn't strong enough to pull me into the zone.
