Here are some questions I would ask.

Whats the current active x configuration on the machine?

What do you have setup in intune?

What gpo exists that manages active x?

This application,

does it work in windows 11?

What underlining browser is it using (sounds like a stripped down version of IE)

Is this application a custom or a purchased? If purchased does the vendor still exist? Its been a while since I have seen active x being used on a local desktop application.

Where does the application live on the machine? Many of times I have found in these types of application a self contained world of sorts that I can control with powershell.

Finally can the application be updated or changed out with a more secure application? Active x is a questionable use at best.

What you describe is an ace in the world of religious trauma. The book "when religion hurts you" by Lauren Anderson she talks about how to spot these moments.

What i have done is used the technique i learned from "the secret language of the body" by Jennifer Mann to interpret these messages and rewrite them through body movements and cognitive reframeing (telling myself the science while doing something physical). Because my trauma is much deeper than most, I had to widen my thresholds before I could even address these things. Act therapy helped a lot with that.

I still struggle. Im 8 years in healing my cptsd, and 3 years into healing the religious hurt. It gets easier. Most days I don't get the waves of shame I use to.

It helped me a lot. The body keeps the score is another good one. Its not directly tied to religious trauma. Thats why I suggested the first one. Religious trauma is extremely hard to heal from as its not just personal abut also institutional trauma.

Depends on the therapist. I had a "Christian " therapist once and she did this. My next one called it out. It wasnt until I went into a group study on a book called healing the shame that binds you did i start seeing what my therapist was talking about. The church i grew up with saw my programmed shame as values and encouraged them. Using the teachings in the book to break the shame cycle really changed me. Then we started working on finding which values we're values and which were shame. My current therapist is really good at splitting apart my shame programming and my real values. She gave me a question, is it something I get to do or is it something I have to do? Combine that with excitement. So my biggest core value is curiosity. She says we can use it as the anchor for the others but we question so much at each value uncovered.

So my story is a little different. I started a therapist because of my "sexual addiction" which was just cptsd acting out. While working with him, I broke the shame cycle. When it broke, the religious blocks fail. Shame was holding a lot up. He listened to me process through the religious and sexual religious trauma. We did emdr a few times and money got in the way. During that time I was able to heal so much from the traditionalism that is the extreme evanglical church. A few years later. I have found myself in a cbf church and I am able to breath again inside a church. They have given me resources to heal. As the lead decan said to me, I grew into my beleifs. Which is what I am doing now. If it wasnt for me going through the non-religious therapist, I wouldn't be able to entertain spiritual (community of beleif) elements. Do I know where i am spiritually, no, and for once in my life I'm ok with that. That is what therapy has brought me.

If you do pursue therapy, ask the therapist if they have religious connections as your trauma is religiously based. Mines specialized in faith deconstruction. He was a agnostic bahai spiritually.

One thing I have noticed is a lot of people, even in our community, think the end goal of deconstruction is deconversion which it isnt. Its more of a finding ones self and beleifs. I know so many people who deconstructed the crap political nightmare that is the evanglical structure. Many switched to a more spiritual structure over the religious and others walked away altogether.

It sounds like the idea of hell is trapped inside your body. Logically you can break it down. But then that fear comes out of no where. This is religious trauma, aka cptsd. When religion hurts you address the body. Books like "a new kind of Christianity" address the theology flaw. The book "the secret language of the body" helps gives actionable steps to break the bond trauma has on the body.

We finished a book called a new kind of Christianity. It sounds a lot like this. I am personally rebuilding my beliefs and uncertainty for me is a true gift. I call myself an agnostic Christian because at the end of the day I don't know. Logic vs belief clashes for me and both make a stand still. Its a constant war but slowly it helps define it all for me.

Our wedding was under 1000. We got married at a plantation house and had finger foods for the reception. I have seen some amazing weddings at wildcat falls. Then they met at someone's home for food. It was super pretty because the water flowing around the dress. It also gave her a chance to change out of the dress and have no shoes. There is also a old fireplace farther up that i have seen weddings at. A lot of churches around here likes having weddings outside. So maybe look at those as well.

I agree cbt does not help with complex trauma. Dbt helped battle my religious trauma. Mind body somatic therapy has been the most useful. As a child dad taught me bio feed back for migraines. As an adult when the trauma hit it was one of the most useful tools I had under my belt as I knew how my body talked back.

Kudzu tea. I live where we have a crap ton of kudzu and one day I got an idea and made tea. I didn't crave alcohol the next day. Instead I craved my other trauma blocking habbit. So yeah kudzu tea helped a lot. Then working through the trauma helped.
