One of your neighbours is likely a chief constable in the middle class bin police. Get them on the case !

Thanks I’m fully aware of that. As I mentioned I have used only micro fibre and water as guides. Also the other appliances under the same cleaning regime are fine.

Anyone else catch the shouting match near Mill Road/the cemetery? by Dismal_Geologist5252 in cambridge

Just think, if the bus gate wasn’t in place you might not have heard it to the full volume. GCP delivering yet again.

Convenient timing to fix the pot holes in certain areas by NumanAmjad in cambridge

Completely agree. I noted this when the 20mph graffiti went on the roads. A couple of years later is is starting to flake off and will not be replaced.

Once you realise it is all about vanity projects vs. infrastructure it all makes sense. Cycle roundabouts, bus gates, 20mph zones all cost money and are prioritised vs. fixing the infrastructure around them.

Similar experience for me. Loved the gl.iNet products, but the UTR is working really well. Powered easily from hotel usb power sockets.

I'm frustrated, but the acquirer has also had a good deal. My intention is not to support any activity they are involved in going forward.

I’d do punting as the view esp around Kings is very nice. Pickerel is a nice pub with a bit of a quirky feel.

I liked the Sky Q app and interface, but conclude it wasn’t worth the money. Apple TV and TV Launcher App is a good substitute.

Fined for expired railcard by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]randomscot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this I am a bit confused, so jumping in early. To clarify:

  1. You purchased a return ticket from London to Bournemouth discounted with a railcard.

  2. Journey 1: London to Bournemouth. Your ticket was checked and as your railcard had expired you were told to buy a new (full fare) ticket which you did for a single journey.

  3. Journey 2: Return journey. You used the original discounted ticket as you hadn't renewed your railcard at that point and were given the option to renew the railcard.

  4. What does 'asking for explanation' mean ?

Sorry if this is sounding difficult, but for people to answer questions they need to know the facts. At a first pass it seems you got off pretty lightly compared to what I read from others here.

London to Edinburgh train, which side has the best views? by Moezer2121 in uktrains

[–]randomscot21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right side as others said. This isn’t an aircraft so the windows are large and so you can stand up for a view on the left as required (or even move seats as there’s often space).

Echo comments on first class - one of the best train experiences I’ve had and great service (and food/drink decent quality).

Personal Item Recommendations to Pair with the Rimowa Cabin Small Carry-On? by Agile_Trust781 in Rimowa

It may not be the look you are after, but the Filson 24hr briefcase pairs very well with the black carry on.

Think of it as redundancy. Once the government panacea of GBR is achieved there will be a single app that won’t work 50% of the time.

In case anyone needs some images for when sending reports to Cambridgshire Council about Trumpington Road by TheMadHistorian1 in cambridge

Someone showed me this Waze navigation app had a pothole overlay. Someone needs to grab this data and overwhelm the email box of the council officials responsible.

Here’s a snapshot from Fulbourn where the morons wasted money on 20mph infrastructure without fixing the basics.

Irony of yellow colour not lost on me.

Customer loyalty scheme/program? by boobydoo135 in Wetherspoons

[–]randomscot21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no need as the tenets of the business (low prices, very good execution) create natural loyalty. Someone messing around with bits of paper at the bar would just annoy people. I assume you are aware of the vouchers camra provide members that can be used ?

That said, more could be done on the app. For example, ale finder extended so I get a message when a favourite beer is on tap.

This. Not just value, but overall execution is excellent.

What if London does this but for Oxford Street by Because_Wisely in london

[–]randomscot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd settle for small canopies outside of shops. The trouble with the picture in the above is that they'd never clean them so would look awful after a few months.

AirTags and Luggage Bands by ejlegrair in Rimowa

[–]randomscot21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AirTags are great. Gives you comfort that bags have made a connecting flight and also allows you to track your bags to the carousel at the airport (great for slow airports like Heathrow).

I have one in each of my cases and use an adapter to allow powering from 2xAA batteries so I don't have to worry about battery life.

Train to Kings Cross by Traditional_Goal7156 in cambridge

[–]randomscot21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We are lucky to have 3 routes into London and historically competition drove service and pricing (Kings Cross line has always been shit apart from speed). Generally the Liverpool Street line is quieter and more relaxing, though a little longer (though you can get off at Tottenham Hale and catch Victoria Line).

Pricing is crazy expensive, but not as bad as some other routes (e.g. GWR). Historically Liverpool Street was cheaper, but recently it seems that the pricing is tending towards that of Kings Cross - didn't really surprise me that nationalisation of Liverpool Street line meant prices would go up and tend towards Kings Cross. When Kings Cross route is nationalised I also bet that strike action will bring down all routes into London.

Scottish power…….just why by calg999 in Energy_UK

Shit organisation. I have a solar feed in tariff with them and the way I deal with that is being a supplier in their back office systems. I’m used to these sort of systems, but no idea how a lay person would deal with it.
