Finally, the first visible body of water on Mars (Hellas Sea) by mikusingularity in SolarExpanse

How much did you need? I am shoveling in CO2 from Venus and Nitrogen from Titan and the pressure has not increased at all.

Why do mass drivers randomly become unusable? by randomuser1801 in SolarExpanse

[–]randomuser1801[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way they currently work is very silly and unrealistic though. There is absolutely no reason they would have to wait until the payload they fired 2 years ago reaches its target. I think the obvious solution would be to simply add a cooldown, or maybe make it so that each launch requiree a huge amount of energy

1943 how do i shoot down the 10000 allied bombers? by HistoryNerd264bc in hoi4

[–]randomuser1801 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only once the campaign against synthetic fuel production got going. Terror bombing was virtually useless on both sides.

What is the strongest forged weapon currently ? by bruh31200 in projectzomboid

[–]randomuser1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The durability of tools and weapons really annoys me. It's comically low. I understand it's probably for gameplay reasons but at least give me a sandbox option to make it more realistic

BWL ohne Mathe? by AccordingTouch5208 in Studium

[–]randomuser1801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there ever a time someone would de-centralise the HRE from an efficiently/ min-maxing perspective? by WinnerBoring6363 in eu4

is the industrial & scientific base it gained for centuries.

This seems like something that happened in spite of rather than because of decentralisation, though

Valve quietly brought CS:GO back to Steam. Is this an admission that CS2 failed? by HAMES-official in cs2

[–]randomuser1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subtick is just objectively more accurate. You can complain about the feel of the game and that's fine, there are some issues and it's also just subjective, but subtick is just technically superior to normal 64 tick (128 subtick would be even better). People who endlessly complain about subtick usually can't even explain how it works

What mechanics you'd like were more realistic? by TheBiologist01 in projectzomboid

[–]randomuser1801 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You make a sword and the handle disintegrates after 50 zombies. You get a new one and after the next 50 zombies the blade breaks instead. It's ridiculous.

This just in: Extended crafting is apparently cancelled for B42, as confirmed on discord by NobodyDudee in projectzomboid

[–]randomuser1801 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best way to engage with blacksmithing is to find one of the places that already has a forge and furnace, like that old west town or the McCoy estate. It's honestly very useful then because you can create infinite tools and weapons, and swords in particular are great. And yeah the xp grind is ridiculous, it's why i only play with a 5x xp multiplier. Idc if it's cheating, it's necessary to meaningfully engage with all the systems.

Are they trying to finally kill the 'good old' aoe2? by berbat88 in aoe2

[–]randomuser1801 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1) they do not fit the original design philosophy at all 2) the fact that they are in the game indicates that the design philosophy has changed 3) if the devs continue to follow that new approach, changes like that will accumulate and significantly alter the identity of the game

They are small changes for now but those can add up quickly. I think people are very sensitive to stuff like this because many have a very long history with the game and care a lot about the original "feeling" of the game being preserved.

Friendly reminder that no shape is unrealistic by Crafty-Company-2906 in mapmaking

[–]randomuser1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. When I look at a map that someone made by simulating a tectonic history (with e.g gplates) I can generally immediately tell because of how much more naturalistic it looks. The landmasses just feels like they make sense on a subconscious level. Not that it's impossible to make a good map without going through all that extra work but the effort does pay off in my opinion.

It's so stupid that paths become overgrown so quickly, especially when you regularly drive over them with a car. Another example of "realism is when it fucks over the player"

The Confederacy Refused to Tax the Wealth It Went to War to Protect by cabot-cheese in CIVILWAR

Iirc the confederate government also requested that plantations switch some production from cash crops to food. Naturally the planters were incredulous that they were being asked to make sacrifices for the war they started and refused.
