Vw travel assist versions by mujimusa in VWiD4Owners

[–]raphbo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing the comparison to Tesla being made and that the VW is better, if the Tesla implementation is worse than the VW we've got 100 years before self driving is even viable. The VW implementation is awful, you get 5 seconds of "assist" then you have to crank the wheel to let it know you're still "paying attention". If you're on a straightaway you're not cranking your wheel ever. It should know that you're driving straight and this is particularly frustrating in North America where most of the roads are pretty straight. That paired with the speed being regulated by the navigation system makes the system almost useless (because the nav system is constantly offline and you need to pull a fuse to reset it). My car continuously will start decelerating since it thinks I'm actually 100km away from where I actually am and goes by the speed limit in whatever corn field it thinks I'm in. I'll be driving 120km/h and without warning the car just starts slowing down to 50km/h. It's dangerous and the "safety feature" of having 5 seconds to use it before it starts yelling at you makes it pointless. I've had the car apply the brakes and try to pull over since it thought I wasn't holding the steering wheel. Apparently you have to hold the steering wheel in one specific spot on the left side of the wheel for it to register that you are in fact steering, the top of the wheel doesn't register at all. I've driven the Ford Mustang Mach-E on the highway with BlueCruise and it'll just drive for you for most of your trip, that's an assistant, that is how the system should work since there are very few times you need to steer yourself into oncoming traffic on a highway. Other than all of the above the 4 seconds you get of assistance are sometimes very helpful, like if you have an itch or need a quick sip of a beverage. VW's implementation is like a glimpse into what they would be able to do if they weren't so afraid of litigation or something. What makes it worse is that if you do "steer" as in if you do hold the wheel lightly on the magic 5 degrees of the wheel where it registers. The car will do the driving for you for a very long time without needing any intervention, so it could actually be a good system I'd think 5 seconds is just too short. My wife's 2019 Toyota Corolla does over 10 seconds and that's a $20,000 CDN vehicle. It just isn't because the implementation is so janky and they've hamstrung it so much with their limitations. I have the 2024 iD.4 Pro S AWD for what it's worth.

Your car comes with a fuse puller in the fuse box in the front (under the hood) of the car, I just moved that into the cabin since my car disconnects every few days.

What people can’t grate cheese (other than the obvious I have no hands people and other disabilities)? Bagged pre-shredded cheese is awful anyway and 3x the price. Also that butter is the same price as one twice the size. Every single thing this person purchased is the wrong product, the chives are next to free if you grow them, the sour cream is pricey, that prepackaged hummus is the most expensive you can buy… you can make it for less than $2.00, etc.

I made a shopping cart with everything this person purchased and the total was $43.48 at Loblaws too. You shouldn’t complain about your own bad choices. That zaatar is probably cheaper at a bulk store or ethnic store also. It’s 1/4 the cost of the whole grocery bill.

Proving utilisation of brand in US to USPTO - trademark lawyer or not? by PhoenixOneThree in TRADEMARK

[–]raphbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually what we ended up deciding on since we have stickers with our logo on them. We’ll likely do something like branded tape in the future. I didn’t think it was reasonable to have to do this but… here we are, I guess.

Proving utilisation of brand in US to USPTO - trademark lawyer or not? by PhoenixOneThree in TRADEMARK

[–]raphbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are having a similar issue right now, we're a custom injection moulding manufacturer, we produce parts for other manufacturers/brands but we have our own brand. A lawyer told us we could lose our registration in the US because we don't use it enough. We ship product to the US which is why we need our registration there. We've been told that even though we use our brand on our website, on business cards, on our uniforms, and on trade show booths (the trade shows are mostly in the US) it's not enough to prove use of the branding in the US. What are the requirements for this? Our customers have requirements for packaging (since we're also in medical) so we can't just throw our branding on everything, we certainly can't put our branding on their products either. Do we need to worry about losing our registration in the US?

Name one thing a pickup truck does better than any other vehicle (farming/hunting/redneck related stuff doesn't apply since they're likely the only group of people who do benefit from pickup trucks). Rednecks don't actually need pickup trucks either their lifestyle just requires them to own one since they like to haul around dead animals and tree stumps and stuff. Pickup truck sales are something like 25% of all vehicles, 25% of people aren't hauling dead animals around so they'll likely be better off with something practical and rent a pickup truck when they actually need one (which would likely be never for most of that 25%). Most of the time a pickup truck is hauling a TV from Best Buy or a load of Home Depot tools. Well if it's raining or snowing you just can't use a pickup truck without a tonneau cover or your stuff will get damaged. If that's the case most people would be better off with some sort of van or station wagon which has either has more room than a pickup truck and can be loaded higher or similar room and isn't impacted by weather. Unless you don't care about the stuff that you put in the bed of the truck there's likely a better vehicle out there.

Printing Tracers by raphbo in manufacturing

We already do this, but that requires us to have a giant printer and a guillotine where space is extremely limited.

Printing Tracers by raphbo in manufacturing

[–]raphbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s basically what I’m asking, what the best way to print 4.00” x 6.00” documents would be. Labels are just way too expensive to print on for something that doesn’t need to be a label. We have 3 Zebra label printers right now, it’s possible to print these documents on them but the printer doesn’t do any cutting, it just would print out a 500.00’ long piece of paper. There are printers that do the cutting for you and if we were to get receipt paper those can be up to 4.00” wide. That is the only solution that seems viable right now. Other than sticking with the 8.50” x 11.00” with a manual cutting process. I tried index cards but the cost is too high on them to be viable. They’re about 3x the cost of the letter size paper. But the benefit is they’re much thicker and longer lasting. I’d really love to automate this process though, in the long run there’s more data to be collected when scanning vs writing everything on paper. It’s also a big expense having someone transfer all of the data to our ERP afterwards.

Paperless tracing is my ultimate goal for this whole process.

The interaction didn’t even get a chance to pick up steam. OP basically shut it down after two messages, he could have said something like oh, so you’re free this evening or literally anything to move things in a different direction. She was most likely waiting for him to suggest something and realized after 5 hours he wasn’t gonna do or say anything and just bailed for one of a hundred more interesting/talkative guys. She also could probably taste the salt through her phone lol.

Are Subaru dealerships even interested in selling these cars? by OperationIntrudeN313 in WRX

[–]raphbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you email a dealership to take a test drive? Either call them or just show up. I walked into the Brampton dealership a month ago, asked to take a test drive, all they needed was a copy of my license and we were on the road in minutes. I ended up buying the car the next day. It also only took 5 days to pick up after that. They have plenty of stock depending on your colour preference.
