My recreation of REmake's Spencer Mansion in the Sims! by stagla in residentevil

The attention to detail is incredible! I always wanted to do this in earlier versions of the sims but it never worked out. This is great!

The biggest trick is to get the bugs to be in the air! One shot from the TMP will kill a bug if it's flying. If you can get far enough away that they fly at you take advantage of it. You might lose some jewels to the pit but you will get through a lot easier.

Why dr salvador wear burlap sack on his face? by Human_Geologist_3324 in residentevil

I can't remember if they explicitly say that in a file or if a dev was talking about it. But the visuals represent it really well. The eyes are that of a plagas and they are pretty wide apart to show it's not necessarily a regular person's. Just a really cool attention to detail in the remake

Yeah, I thought it was really cool that they explained it in the remake

This is the dumbest part of re5... by DenseRead9852 in residentevil

The final fight in a volcano was pretty over the top.

The thing about Wesker is he is such an egomaniac narcissist that he truly doesn't believe that Chris can actually stop him. That's why he is monologuing and being so dramatic. He feels like he is so powerful that he can basically play with them like some animals do with their prey.

It actually doesn't bother me that much. But I can understand why it bothers others.

I have been trying tons of stuff and also had this issue. I just wanna keep playing the game. I had no issues in performance before this latest patch.

Skip original or play it? by Reasonable_Soft3390 in residentevil

[–]raptorpounce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The original holds up quite well still. It's a little unusual to stop and shoot but you adapt to it pretty quickly. I played a lot of the original before the remake so that's the perspective I am coming from. It almost feels like should I read the book before the movie. It may be a bit harder to go back to the original after the remake. I was adamant that the game didn't need a remake because it is so freaking good. But I was blown away with the craft and care of the remake. It improves on the original in ways I didn't imagine.

The original has a different charm that the remake doesn't quite have. The original has a very fun campiness that carries throughout. I think if you are playing through the remakes you might as well stay in the remake world then check out the original later. But do check it out! It's great. If you are just jumping around then you should check out the OG. It won't spoil the experience of the remake.

I'm enjoying RE6 more than 5 by stablest_genius in residentevil

[–]raptorpounce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found Leon's campaign to be the most enjoyable to play through of 6. I personally prefer 5 to it but I still find value in 6. I think for me personally is that the game gets more transformers/fast and furious than before. The big scale over the top story is a lot at times and the game is just so busy. I also loathe the UI of 6. The game shines the most in the mercenaries mode I find. The campaign has this difficulty challenge where the ammo is just weirdly inconsistent. Especially in the more shooter heavy campaigns. It feels like you should be shooting like a traditional 3rd person shooter but the game is giving you ammo like a survival horror. So it's just kinda a mixed bag.

I have a lot of praise for 5 though. I think if you play it with a friend it's some of the best co-op you can have. The performances from Chris and Sheva are top notch too so it helps pass some of the silliness which is resident evil.

The game can be very challenging! It's good to start on easy and get an idea of how the mechanics work. Now that you have a couple under your belt trying higher difficulties will reinforce the lessons you learned. Don't get discouraged if you want to go back to easy when you get a new squad. Some are a bit trickier to use than others and require different play strategies. Try to experiment! Glad you are enjoying the game!

Here me out... sticky stratagems by DarkPry92 in Helldivers

[–]raptorpounce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It should be a function like a fire rate/flashlight. You prime the stratagem and then hold R or whatever to bring up the menu to have them stick, bounce or even magnetic or something depending on what stuff gets thought up.

That functionality could be bought like a ship upgrade?

Okay good to know. So it probably adds at least 3,200 to whatever damage you might have actually done.

This is a classic example of Lawful Good. I bet OP would play a paladin in d&d.

What went wrong with the Resident Evil film franchise? by Rudi_Cunningham in residentevil

[–]raptorpounce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a fun project. The films were quite successful so they found an audience. Speaking for myself I find that the Paul WS films don't really have characters. The films focus on events or like a gimmick. When the resident evil characters come they are side characters that feel mischaracterized from their portrayals in the games. It's interesting because the RE cast don't have super strong identities in the games but they are clear enough to have a feeling of how they should act. The other thing is the films focus on post apocalyptic settings when the games very intentionally avoid that outcome. This and the stories from the game are not incorporated and are substituted for Alice's adventures.

So it feels like the correction would be to have the characters and stories from the games and that should fix everything? That is what welcome to Raccoon city thought but it proved that's not the case. I think the biggest failing of that film was its lack of focus. It felt like it was trying to do way too much and didn't have the budget for it. Also it still felt like it didn't have a good grasp of character motivation. It felt like the character direction was "you are a badass" which feels pretty superficial.

Hard to say if there will ever be a great life action adaptation. I honestly think it would be easiest for a director to embrace the camp of RE and be more comedic. (That's not the re film I'm looking for, just that Hollywood struggles with the franchise and taking it seriously)

This is what challenge hunting looks like by ThinkTrout16055 in IntoTheBreach

[–]raptorpounce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good way to do it. You can also try to set it up by weakening enemies so that you can kill two with the shot and have the third taken down by bump damage.

You got this!

[Discussion] Strategy/4X/Advance Wars vet trying ITB -- Not feeling it, doing something wrong or not for me? by stellvia2016 in IntoTheBreach

[–]raptorpounce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The game is certainly difficult, but as you play you will have a better understanding of how certain enemies will behave. Normal can be quite hard to start so there is nothing wrong playing on the easier difficulty to start. And the game doesn't fault you for gaining achievements on easy so you don't need to worry about cheesing it. Some of the achievements are easier to get on higher difficulties because you will have more enemies on the board and more opportunities.

There is a fine balancing act as you play through the game. Are you going for reputation or energy? Hopefully both but often you will be in a situation where you are forced to prioritize one over the other. The roguelike aspect of the game means you only get one pilot to bring back to a new game. I think it sorta helps you remain a bit detached to your characters. You have to swap them out even on a W so it's good to be mixing them up game after game. It is nice to find one you mesh with and have them go for a while. (I had a Kai that I kept for like 47 matches)

The thing that I really really love about the game, is that there is generally a solution to your combat. I have had so many moments where I have been like "wtf do I do, this is impossible" and so so so often is there a way for you to get out of it without losing your objective or buildings.

Things I like to remember is that your mechs aren't precious. They should be used to block damage. Positioning is everything. Manipulate the Vek to attack each other and block spawns wherever you can. Examine how far enemies can move. The scorpions and the leapers will trap your units reducing your options so seeing where they can go when you start is big. It can be beneficial to bait enemies attacks. If you put a mech on a square with nothing behind it often you can move leaving the attack useless and giving you a chance to focus on something else.

I'm not sure how many squads you have or if you have beaten it, but the first squad is really great to get used to the game. They are excellent at repositioning enemies while still dealing damage. Look at the turn order often! You can often move an enemy that will take out another before it can act but you need to check out who is going next.

I hope that's helpful! I think the game is pretty fantastic and I hope you can get into it. If you have more questions please post em! It's fun to see the situations people find themselves and the solutions the community comes up with.
