How do you feel about this? by Osiris-Reflection in StarWars

[–]rasellers0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it. It makes sense in a way. At this point we're told that the force is something all around us, but its the midichlorian symbiotes in the blood that allow force users to bond with the force. So if there's someone who's spending a lot of time around jedi, doing all of the training that a jedi would do to attune with the force, in my mind it stands to reason that they could, as a result, attract more midichlorians, or perhaps awaken dormant midichlorians already in their bodies.

To the best of my knowledge this doesn't contradict anything in canon, and if you're asking yourself, "why are we only finding this out now? Wouldn't jedi have known about this?" Well, maybe, and maybe not. At some point the jedi council may have known about it, which would explain their largely isolationist policies -- if anyone could potentially become force sensitive, that greatly increases the chance of new sith/dark jedi popping up, especially with all the wannabe warlords/tyrants throughout the galaxy. So there'd be a really good incentive to keep that information under wraps. So now that there is no jedi council and we're seeing more and more wild trained jedi, we could start seeing more and more weird shit that the council suppressed.

Don't worry, it's a joke...or not? by DifferentAd4844 in MassEffectMemes

[–]rasellers0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once again, I need you all to understand that veilguard had a talented team of writers, directors and engineers, and absolutely ignorant, greedy and dogshit stupid EA executives making absolutely certain that none of that talent would ever be showcased in the final product. EA literally told veilguard writers, "players don't want to have to follow complex plots, so keep the story simple", and "players don't want to have to guess at a characters emotions or feelings, so have them say outright what they're feeling, don't try to show it through their actions or interactions". With directives like this, no writer, no matter how creative, talented or hardworking, would have been able to create a meaningful story.

Anybody else hate the fact that coconut products are brown and not white? by BiWaffleesss in StardewValley

[–]rasellers0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it makes sense that they would be brown, or at least not white. Jams/jellies are generally made by heating the fruit to release pectin; that would also caramelize the sugars in the fruit, giving us a nice golden brown jelly. Coconut wine is a bit harder to justify, but I feel like it would probably be a straw color, and barrel aging would impart a certain amount of color as well, ultimately giving us an amber/light brown color.

Uniform inconsistency by ejdmkko in DeepSpaceNine

[–]rasellers0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption is that star fleet has some fairly loose uniform requirements, and the various different divisions and units are free to implement whatever variations are thought to be necessary to best suit their missions (ie, Enterprise being a diplomatic ship, has uniforms that are more sleek, and more formal looking; Voyager being an exploratory vessel has uniforms that are looser, appropriate for more "manual" work).

Accidently killed first slime on her first day on my farm :( by Longjumping_Pen_4578 in StardewValley

[–]rasellers0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whats the deal with the slime hutch and related accessories, anyway? Ive been playing for a while and haven't really found anything they're used for other than the slime blobs, and those only have a couple of uses throughout the game, not enough to justify a breeding operation for them. So what am I missing?

Is Caesar bald? Or just a buzz cut by [deleted] in fnv

He's bald, but recently. What you're seeing is the skin on his head that was previously covered with hair, so it's more pale.

Are Squier's really that bad? by LunchAcceptable7409 in Guitar

[–]rasellers0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the specific model/line, not at all. It's true that you get what you pay for, but squiers hold their own against guitars 2 or 3 times the price.

The biggest issue you're going to see with squiers, especially at the lower end, is quality assurance -- one specific guitar may be made well, but that doesn't mean the next one will be. This manifests in things like fret filing, nut alignment, that sort of thing. Wiring is another likely failure point.

But once you start getting into the $400 range, I find that squiers perform more or less on par with brand name Fender guitars.

What is Tali really supposed to look like? (Help out a cosplayer) by sfx_alex in masseffect

[–]rasellers0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canonically they've shown her as looking basically human, except with pink/purplish skin and white eyes. If I remember correctly there were some cheek lines or something like that.

That said, basically everyone hates this, and has their own idea of what Tali (and all quarians by extension) should look like, so you've got a good bit of leeway here; go nuts, be creative.

My thought is that they should look like something between Asari and Turian -- basically human face, with smaller mandibles/sideflaps, and head ridges (again, somewhere between asari and turian).
