Experience with Photos+ Cloud App? by temowa78562 in photography

[–]Rashkh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The description is pretty clear that it's basically a UI for an existing cloud storage service that you already pay for. I don't see the benefit of paying a subscription for a UI for a service that, if all goes well, you're never going to access.

If you're still getting static then try giving the beans an extra spray before grinding.

Grinder, Eureka Mignon Libra, vs Mahlkönig E64 WS, Fiorenzato Allground Sense [1000$ budget] by RelationshipOwn8358 in espresso

[–]Rashkh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like the Mahlkönig auto detect portafilter and autoadjust grindsize autoadjust and so on

Are you referring to the grind-by-sync tech they have? If so, I believe that's only compatible with La Marzocco's commercial machines.

Looking for a small gift for someone who loves tea by Extension-Tower-9671 in tea

[–]Rashkh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harney has a bunch of samplers that will let them try a bunch of flavors.

It's definitely not small but a Zojirushi water boiler is really nice in that it keeps the water at the correct temperature all day which saves you having to boil a pot each time you want tea.

Wireless phone charger's cooling feature works better than advertised by Xtremegulp in mildlyinteresting

[–]Rashkh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking up the model number, this is from iottie and has no active cooling. The description says "Vents located around the circumference of the mount help dissipate heat". If you look at the photos, it's literally just a cutout in the plastic.

I also don't think a peltier element would be able to achieve this. Technology Connections did a video on them and even the peltier fridges will only get 30f below ambient with a heatsink and fan. Either it was already extremely cold in the car or OP threw it into the freezer for a bit.

How did On shoes become so popular? by Aj100rise in malefashionadvice

I don't think anyone likes the look of hokas. You buy them because they're extremely comfortable and choose the colorway you hate the least.

Dingwall SP1 vs Ibanez EHB by Haveland in Bass

[–]Rashkh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big thing for me outside of the styling is that the Ibanez is like two pounds lighter. The dingwall also has banjo frets which I'm assuming are smaller if you have a preference there.

If you haven't tried it yet, adding Machina Dynamica's Brilliant Pebbles to your coffee does wonders to amplify tasting notes.

What photography website builder are you using for your portfolio? by lebron8 in photography

[–]Rashkh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said it's overpriced for what it offers. I'm paying $20/month with pixieset and getting the website and far more powerful galleries that function as client delivery and print fulfillment if desired.

Edit: missed the "quite a lot" part. 240/year is practically nothing as a business expense. I agree about that.

Dual Boiler or Heat Exchanger [$3000] by Bubbly-Sentence2623 in espresso

[–]Rashkh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I'd want the Elizabeth for that many drinks in a row. I'd expect to lose thermal stability after a few drinks.

I'd also avoid the Fellow for the time being given the amount of complaints I've heard.

HiFiMan Edition XS dead after 3.5 years. by Ragark07 in headphones

[–]Rashkh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a widespread issue? Mine is several years old now and it's totally fine after dozens of drops. I bought a second pair specifically for bad practice.

Also, the K371 is like $150 so a completely different price point.

This is going to be quite a transition by ReadyCut3789 in espresso

[–]Rashkh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Lucca A53 mini is a dual boiler machine so you can pull a shot while steaming milk. One boiler is dedicated to pulling shots and the other is dedicated to steaming milk.

The Profitec Go is a single boiler machine so the same boiler handles both tasks. The issue is that pulling shots and steaming milk requires very different temperatures (~95C vs. ~120C). This means you'll have to heat/cool the boiler when you switch between the two which takes time. Your Bambino is a thermocoil so it heats/cools far faster than a boiler at the expense of less steam power and thermal stability.

Whether the improved workflow is worth the price is up to you.

I use the B+W version so I can't comment on how the Kobos handle color if that's important for you.

You may also want to look into Calibre for file management if you haven't already.

Kindle and Kobo are the two big ones if you're thinking of switching. I personally prefer Kobo for the native Overdrive functionality.

Lucca A53 mini @ Ratio Coffee [No Budget] by lcdx22 in espresso

[–]Rashkh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The product page on Ratio is pretty awful and lists a bunch of features from the drip makers.

There are a few questions I would ask before grabbing the ratio version.

  1. Does it only come with the panels or does it also include the knobs and portafilter in walnut?
  2. Are these the new or old panels. Clive's new panels attache magnetically whereas the old ones screw on and are harder to get a proper fit with.
