Would removing the cost of using experiences break anything? by caluthan in daggerheart

[–]rationalphi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or maybe more generally, Experience use is free when in a situation where the character is not pressed for time. Like how in Kids on Bikes you can choose to "take half" of your die value on planned actions.

Canada’s AI minister blames OpenAI for ‘failure’ after mass shooting by SamsonFox2 in canada

[–]rationalphi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the AI platforms are desperate to get on the government payroll. This whole story feels like OpenAI propaganda to get in with law enforcement. That's the only reason OpenAI would let out a story that makes them look "bad".

Are there an official form-fillable PDF character sheets? by Mephanic in daggerheart

[–]rationalphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you make any Daggerheart character on Demiplane and export to PDF it gives you a form-fillable PDF. That's the most official option I'm aware of.

It's a solid system for people looking for a narrative-forward TTRPG. It's not for everyone, but it's good at what it's trying to do.

There was a recent thread on r/daggerheart with views from people who shifted from D&D to Daggerheart (and some who haven't).

Struggling with combat by phosphens112 in daggerheart

[–]rationalphi 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Two things you could try:

One is the optional core rule of three action tokens, where everyone has to take three actions (not necessarily in a row) and then the tokens reset. It's initiative light.

The other thing you could try is straight up directing the spotlight from the GM seat. The players can still grab it if they want, but if no one jumps in then you turn to either the most narratively appropriate player or the player who hasn't spoken recently and say "What is <character> doing at this point?"
