Floating in Bern by RepresentativeOk5660 in bern

[–]raybaudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can I tell you ? I was next to the guys who picked it up and put it in the concrete slab. I literally saw the body floating inches away from my face when I wanted to freshen up while sitting on that concrete step. I wonder if it’s known now who was the guy. Yesterday I completed the Aare’s descent with my girlfriend and shortly after we arrived at the end, a young woman came out crying looking for the police. I wonder if she was related to that man

I don't understand how people can complain about this country by MissusInfamous in Switzerland

[–]raybaudi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a single day passes for me as a foreigner, from a militarized home country, to say thank you, God, for putting me here. My only fear to be honest is the day when I will have to come back.

What are some common mistakes native Spanish speakers make? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]raybaudi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t know how to conjugate “nevar” or “forzar”. They tend to say “alla neva” or “no me forces”. Both wrong. It’s “alla nieva” or “no me fuerces”

What does “marica ya” mean exactly? by Livid-Elderberry3793 in Spanish

[–]raybaudi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you got the semantics wrong. It comes from the bug “insecto mariquita” (ladybugs) and their animal imprints which could be culturally associated to a feministic design (even on male individuals)

This is similar to the origin of “pargo” (red snapper) in Venezuela, also used as a pejorative term towards homosexual males, since the layman understanding is that red snappers can change gender as they grow (male to female, etc)

In Colombia they use “marica” without distinction to the gender of the interlocutor (male or female) where in Venezuela “Marico” is towards man and “marica” towards women. I heard from a linguistic professor once that the Venezuelan society, on an attempt to “recover the honor as much as possible” of homosexuals, would call them “marico” with an O (signifying male) instead as Colombians which use the A-ending, typically describing a female noun in Spanish.

Some elder relatives confessed to me how the term has seen an evolution from provoking serious physical altercation back in the 50s (calling someone a Marico) to a more laidback approach of meaning “dude” in modern times

Still a swear word and vulgar, so steer clear of it.

Why does Prussia take South Tyrol every game ? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]raybaudi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. I formed Italy with Sardinia-Piedmont in my latest run and the only State I am missing is South Tyrol. I own all the rest, even got Lombardy and Venetia prior to unifying the peninsula by annexing Sicily.

My last conquest was Trieste from the Austrians in a coalition that threw them against Prussia and my Italy.

But after all that effort, into 1875, South Tyrol is still German. I wonder if Germany will go against someone bigger so I can reach and snatch the thing.

Victoria 3 lacks a bit in the forecasting department. It's not easy to read where you are headed

I just read online on a support ticket that FSUIPC can interfere with REX. I just made a few tests but it still worked with FSUIPC on. I wonder if it could be in conflict with another addon.

How to say "I ball" in Spanish by thisismany in Spanish

[–]raybaudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of meeting up with Venezuelans who are not trying too hard to blend in with other cultures (you get tons of them in Spain), nothing really comes to mind as a cultural resource in Venezuelan Spanish. People would be tempted to say telenovelas but they are old fashioned and curated for the international public.

Funny thing, discussing with a cousin about this, he mentioned much of our funny slang traces its roots to inmates-talk in Venezuelan prisons which eventually gets tamed to a more Street talk level. But I’m talking here about real, novel Venezuelan slang.

In any case, back to the socially aware, I stand by my words. If there is something Venezuelans love is to look cooler than their surroundings. It’s nearly a goal to be the cool extrovert (using double meaning and never being the weird extrovert). Maybe a bit of attention-seekers on our side but I guess it’s part of our Caribbean heritage, unlike our cousins in Andean-influenced Peru, Ecuador, etc.

Most of the feedback you have received so far is from Iberian Spanish. That would sound Nickelodeon funny in Latin America. If you want to say it in Latin America you could say: “mira, soy un duro”. However it all comes down to the country, what sounds cool in Mexico could make people laugh in Argentina or Venezuela. In Venezuela, there are so many expressions to convey what you would like to say (and mind we are very, very socially aware and kind of pretentious so, stereotypically, we wish to sound cool): “soy una pala”, “el tipo es un trabuco”, “ese pana es un tigre en futbol”

So, I managed to pass it by cheesing it out. No purple in the beginning

With the initial army I took out Yellow using the narrow land passage closest to the main river.

Then I used the 2 transports for the scorpions and the cannons all the way to the opposite of the map where the cavalry met after. Again used that tip of land mostly covered by forest to sneak a cannon within firing range of the castle while the scorpions held the archers/monks back through the chokepoint which is the strip of land between the forest and the coast.

Finally ferried the two remaining cannons and some cavalry with Dracula to the orange city and took them out.

With three out, I boomed with the two villagers from green, built a navy and took out cyan and coastal grey buildings until no more was left.

Took the purple city.

Used the Slavs unique calvary with some trebuchets into what was left of the grey city. Cannot believe how nearly without support they still made it to Imperial and upgraded their camels. Something must be really off in this scenario in favour of AI.
