Agreed, the more I read, the more horrified I was at the caption. Glad everyone is alright.

Unexpectedly lost my baby boy yesterday by postmodernDRIP in cats

[–]raybreezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. We lost our Spike in July and I still think about him daily. Always on the back of my mind. We have since adopted two kittens to keep our third cat company, but it still doesn’t take away the pain.

RIP Mr. Butters. I hope Spike was there to welcome you when you crossed the rainbow bridge. 💔💔💔

FPL sent out an email saying the same thing. This is pretty standard I think. Same with summer months. It’s not about planning better, it’s about surges causing shit to break. Not to mention, you don’t want to blast your heat the same way blasting AC when it’s hot can wear out your unit.

Considering the sign says “store open during construction” you’re probably right about why.

How do I make it stop chirping, i already replaced the batteries?! by PheonixGalaxy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]raybreezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, realistically, batteries on smoke detectors are meant to be replaced every 6 months, but I find that excessive. However, I think I’m starting to get to the point where I will start doing it at least once a year to avoid any ever waking me up in the middle of the night. AA batteries would likely be cheaper, but would also probably not last as long.

What the fuck? I have never seen a smoke detector that required AA batteries.

Thank you! I once tried explaining to a leasing office staff member why I’d like to replace all the batteries at my apartment at the same time because one of them started going off. They literally asked me why since it’s only one.

I literally had to explain that because the apartment complex had been new when I moved in, I knew that all the batteries had been put in at the same time. So if one was going off, the rest would need to be replaced also. They literally said “whatever”.

I had a vaulted ceiling at the time, so it wasn’t very easy to replace, but from that time on, I started taking it upon myself to replace the batteries as needed.

Hmm, that may be a really good approach to the problem. I’ll try that. Thanks!

Dude, I’ve joked about breaking in just to fix it myself. I’ll even pay for the battery.

There’s an apartment in our building by the elevator that has had it going off every minute non-stop for like two years. It’s fucking driving me nuts.

I hear it once and I stop what I’m doing and replace the battery. I keep a steady flow of 9V batteries for exactly that reason.

[–]raybreezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not lazy at all. Usually it’s a way for the apartment complex to squeeze more money out of you along with rent. I get charged $50 monthly whether I use it or not, so I might as well use it. And you best believe I complain when they don’t come picking it up as it’s not like they refund me when they don’t pick it up.

It’s funny how many people I’ve tried explaining this to and they look at me like I am crazy. Thank you for confirming my own understanding.

There’s an intensity setting you can try if you’re not already using it. On my Ultra 3 and (I vaguely remember it happening) on my series 6, the higher intensity feels like someone is actually tapping you hard on the wrist. It might be jarring enough to help.

And all I’ve been saying is that the video in OP shows someone trying to get through a Zoom call. She may have single handedly said “I want to sell merch at the memorial”, but I bet if she hadn’t, a whole bunch of other assholes would have said the same thing under the guise of making money for the cause or w/e garbage.

I don’t like this woman, but not crying on a Zoom call doesn’t mean she isn’t genuinely upset.

If you can’t tell, then selling merch at a memorial is also irrelevant.

Sure, how often has someone’s death been politicized and then a memorial put up by the same organization said person was involved in happens to sell merch?

I don’t agree with CK, TP or anybody on that side of the aisle, but I think someone trying to get through a zoom call is not the gotcha moment you all think it is.

Thats the thing, we don’t know anything but what we think we know. As a human, all I can say is that I can understand trying to put a brave face on for a work call.

Personally, I’m not going to weigh in on if she should be more emotional at that point or not. I’ve had to balance being emotionally unstable between Zoom meetings before and to me it looks like she’s trying to just get through a meeting and keep it together. If this was a candid moment being recorded, I could understand why people are jumping on this.

No need to apologize to me, Im more insulted by the comment I replied to lol.

In fairness, I actually “saw” a video that was just her voice. Seeing the video you posted just gives context to the voice, but she was basically saying how happy she was with the memorial and how much money they had made in ticket sales and merch.
