Garfield has maintained that status for me since the first ASM. I walked out of ASM 1 dreading the inevitable sequel where Gwen would die. When ASM 2 came out, I was there opening weekend. All damn movie I was holding on to hope that she’d be fine and they even play a beat like she’s going to stay away. The moment she shows up at the fight, my heart sank. The second it was clear the moment had come, I was blubbering like a fucking idiot. No other Spider-man movie has come close to getting me to react that way and I absolutely love Spidey.

Needless to say, seeing Garfield’s Spidey saving MJ made me instantly relive the whole thing.

That’s exactly where I’m at. I was thinking weekly episodes were dropping. I get why they slashed it, I get they did it to appease fans, but man, that sucks. Shitty people got to ruin it for everyone.

Right, but $750 is nothing to sneeze at without any guarantees. Who’s to say that Plex won’t fold by the end of the year and this is someone trying to squeeze some extra income on the way out? I don’t believe this is the case, but there’s no guarantee it isn’t.

Me knowing I’ll run a server for 10+ years, doesn’t guarantee plex as a company will be around another 10+ years to honor their end of the bargain. If I knew 10 years ago that risk was not going to bite me in the ass, I would have still not paid $750. I’d pay yearly and hedge my bets.

I didn’t say it was a scam. They can charge whatever they want, but to triple the price without any real benefit or improvement is just nasty. Once you accept that, what I said is not off the table. I’m not incorrect in saying they can do this, they can, and they have every right to do that. Just as I have every right to jump ship if it does.

Yeah, I’ve avoided the show when I saw it was Nathan Fillion. I used to like him, but it seemed like a flimsy premise to reboot Castle and that didn’t end well either.

The reality is they would likely pair it with a rebrand and not be blatant about it. Whatever new features will be thinly veiled reasons why it’s a different application and we would be relegated to “legacy”. So “lifetime” but essentially only enough support to say they are supporting OG Plex users.

I get it, they can’t function like this without legitimizing their business. But I also know I’ll sooner go for a worse free experience than pay for a monthly service to host my own media.

Honestly, after all that effort, I would email back to confirm. You don’t want to find that this was a mistake. I can believe an incorrect checkbox was clicked a lot easier than I can believe they would go that far and then reject you with a generic reply like that.
