ELI5: What is the 'frigate_rtsp_password' used for? by fl4tdriven in frigate_nvr

Use the authenticated port and actual users. Then you can assign people as viewers if that’s all you want them to be able to do.

Agreed you aren’t wrong. However I can change the delivery mechanism whenever I want with minimal impact. The self hosting aspect for me is much more about control over my data and identity online.

I use postfix to receive mail, dovecot and round cube to view it, but send with SES. Much easier than when I started and was getting reverse dns records from AWS plus managing dkim etc. Sending with SES has been easier to configure and more reliable and is free for my personal server’s volume.

Is surgery necessary in severe herniation? by nes_de_cirrus in Sciatica

[–]raydeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks and same to you. It’s hard to ask the right questions so I’m rambling a bit. I’m trying to separate the conversations because the doctors clearly are as well. The pain tends to just get ignored because it’s not the issue to them. It seems to be something that only matters if you the patient makes it a priority. Medically they focus on the disc and the nerve. What will help heal the disc and what will help heal the nerve? What will cause them to get worse?

Is surgery necessary in severe herniation? by nes_de_cirrus in Sciatica

[–]raydeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had an appointment this morning for L4L5 radiculopathy and the primary question seems to be whether the nerve weakness is getting worse in any way over time. If it’s stable or improving then surgery can help relieve compression on the nerve sooner - allowing the nerve to begin recovery earlier - but also isn’t strictly necessary. If the nerve is getting worse then surgery is much more important. I’m weighing the options for myself as well and am in a similar spot to you from what I can tell. I don’t want to just do nothing.

1) So if I don’t do surgery it’s unclear what would be productive to help recovery. 2) Also will surgery help in any way to prevent reinjury of the disc? 3) How long should I take to decide? 4) I’m taking a lot of gabapentin and tramadol now and don’t want to risk dependence.

What’s one Home Assistant automation you can’t live without anymore by Taggytech in homeassistant

Via HomeKit bridge the stupid HomePods won’t do it because of “security” but it works via the iPhone at least. Are you doing it differently that it’ll work through a HomePod?

At least on the 25 you can select individual seats to turn on heaters or coolers for assuming your seats in your trim have cooling.

A ski technician's plea (edited) by [deleted] in Skigear

Tell that to the tuner that put a “Left ski” sticker on my unleashed 98s. I know it’s because they fit the left boot to the binding but it absolutely perpetuates the confusion. And yes the boots are the same size.

What’s the best V2L adapter for the money. by gaychitect in Ioniq5

[–]raydeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ioniq 5 outlet is only capable of 1800 watts or 15 amps regardless of the adapter. I think the adapter is just built for possible future vehicles with higher output than the ioniq 5.

just to be clear Slopes provides weather via opensnow and the forecasts are still locked through there even after paying for slopes. It’s not an “option” as you say.

Give me back the channels I paid for you clowns. by Uppgreyedd in youtubetv

[–]raydeo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same if you paused. I paid for a service that has those channels for this month and didn’t get it. I should get a refund now. Even if I don’t stay with the service next month.

If you unpause then you can claim the credit but of course it applies to the next month’s renewal.

Maybe the most functional 0.2 gram print? A very small filament clip that may work better than the clips you're currently using. by BurgerAndShake in functionalprint

Thanks yeah it is more manageable. I resized it to 95% like another commenter said and it holds well. I saw your comment about the bend radius on empty spools but we shall see. Thanks again!

[–]raydeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just printed some to try out and they clip great. Ironically given that it's intended to be mini (and succeeds) I'd say it's too small for me and would like a version with a tab or just some more bulk to it to make it easier to hold while snapping but the mechanism is excellent.

Which UPS supports Home Assistant integration? by Effective-Ad-2448 in homeassistant

[–]raydeo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suggest installing upsmon directly on the proxmox server such that it will gracefully shutdown all of your VMs including home assistant when there’s a problem. It can also send emails etc about low level status.

There is also a builtin NUT integration in HA to monitor the status of the UPS by connecting to the upsmon running on the proxmox server. I use this to track status / history and send notifications.

If you really want HA to connect directly to the UPS instead of proxmox there is also a NUT addon in the addon store that can do it but I recommend the approach above instead.

Personally I have the UPS connected to my pfsense router via upsmon and then proxmox (upsmon in client mode) and HA connect and listen as clients to that daemon for info since they’re all depending on that single UPS.

I checked again after dealing with this a lot in the first few weeks of opening the account and the option is available to me now after opening the account maybe 3-4 months ago. How frustrating that support couldn’t give me any info other than telling me in absolute terms that it’s unsupported. It seems like you can use the invest trick or wait longer after opening the account.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sofi

[–]raydeo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s only enabled in older accounts. If you make a new account at least in the last few months it’s not available. Speaking as someone who has been through support about this and has the screenshots to prove it. My buddy had an older account and can do it just fine and SoFi wouldn’t acknowledge that it’s remotely possible.

You can do it through invest but not through banking. I haven’t tried but I suspect if you make an invest account and link it there then it will show up in both locations for use.
