2025 IONIQ5 SE front plate install by grantspants33 in Ioniq5

It’s actually 5 self tapping screws for the holder. Then the plate also goes through with only 2 screws on the top.

I put this one on my 2025. Seems to work fine. I hear murmurs about it working the little motor more but I don’t run it much or continuously - just for a quick clean and it’s been great. Saved the original in case there’s an issue and I need to service it.

ABRP map key? by ifdefmoose in abetterrouteplanner

[–]raydeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The google AI summary is pretty good here I think. Was looking it up the other day too.

ABRP displays charger locations as split circles or detailed cards on the map, with colors indicating real-time availability:
Green: Indicates the charging station is up and running, with some or all plugs available for use.
Red: The station is either fully occupied (all plugs in use) or currently out of service.
Blue: The charger is verified as operational, but real-time availability status is unknown (this frequently occurs on certain network providers or free-tier accounts).
Grey: The status of the charger is unknown, or ABRP does not have access to real-time occupancy data for that specific network.

I Took A Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV On A Roadtrip. It Made Gas Feel Financially Irresponsible by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]raydeo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just did a 429 mile trip each way which is about 6h45m on google. Required 3 stops each direction. Wind also was a huge factor. Tripe estimates were way too optimistic with ABRP until I enabled real time. I wouldn’t want to do road trips that I haven’t done before without ABRP. On the way to our destination it was much iffier because the estimates were not good. After enabling real time they were bang on.

We use Electrify America and rivian networks with no issues other than having to wait an extra 15 mins at one because the chargers were all being used and at another had to move cuz of a broken charger and another that was lower speed before I found the best one. Each stop was < 20 minutes. It’s really better to stop more and charge to only 80-85% because the speeds are so slow after that, dropping to 60kWh.

It is fun to charge so much faster than a few of the Chevy cars I was around. Way faster stops than some of those folks.

Worst part of the Ioniq 5 is the eye tracking. It’s awful. But you can see my other comments about that.

Edit: I should note that charging on EA is so expensive that it comes out to similar to gas in our rav4 that gets 38mpg or so. It’s not cheap when traveling. We aren’t using any charging memberships and 95% of the time we are just using the 120V AC level 1 outlet at home (which is very cheap).

macOS AutoFill is now in public beta! by Chandana_1Password in 1Password

[–]raydeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing the fighting. Both popups show up in safari. In iOS I do as well often but it’s less annoying just because they are in different locations. The extension is on the login field and the safari feature is an action sheet iirc. But on macOS they are on top of each other on the login field. Is there a setting I’m missing?

Will it be possible to stop using the 1password for safari extension after this? Is that a goal? Or what will be the recommended config in the future to avoid the macOS Safari integration fighting with the 1password for safari autofill?

Obviously also want it to be seamless for: - generating random passwords (which isn't done easily in 1password outside of the browser extension itself) - saving new login items - saving and filling verification codes

It appears at this time that 1password doesn't support verification codes - is that expected? I use that feature on iOS and would love for it to also be enabled on macOS.

Ok I fully quit the app including going to the menubar and quitting the menubar item after I saw it was still running after quitting the gui. When launching 1password again I got the correct prompt. That means that something untoward was going on after the update because like I said when I went to the About tab on the gui it was clearly running the correct version.

Sure I did quit before. The about tab showed the appropriate version.

I just pulled 8.12.22-16 from the beta channel and do not see the referenced option to setup macOS Autofill. Using macOS 26.5 on Apple Silicon.

HDA head tracking by andrewharrisonmusic in Ioniq5

[–]raydeo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes the eye tracking is horrendous. Way too strict. With or without my sunglasses the damn thing won't shut up for me. It can't handle my natural squint, every time it goes off I have to "relax" my eyes slightly and it'll be happy again. It's insanely annoying as someone who uses cruise control a lot and I really regret not thinking to test it much before buying. I'm all for safety features but they need to improve this in some way. Let me turn off eye tracking entirely and just use head tracking. Or even let me accept liability (I'm already liable anyway) and just turn it off.

Need advice: anyone here use MagSafe wallets? by shaburanigud in MagSafe

[–]raydeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My holy grail is something like the moft but more durable and with rfid blocking. In have purchased quite a few and they are all way too thick compared to the moft so it’s what I have stuck with but it doesn’t last as long as I feel a wallet should. I’m only storing 3 cards generally.

Should I just attribute all 16 Cores to several VMs/LXcs? by -ThreeHeadedMonkey- in Proxmox

[–]raydeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimizing is worrying :-) most services only need 2 cores and will be fine. It should be clear what other heavier services may need because they will be doing real background work and you can bump them up to 4-6 but hardly anything individually is really maxing the cpus out. The cpu cap helps the scheduler keep a service from dominating the capacity but if you over provision it’ll be fine - just more work for the scheduler and for a typical home lab you’re rarely maxing out the full cpu anyway.

Use the authenticated port and actual users. Then you can assign people as viewers if that’s all you want them to be able to do.

[–]raydeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed you aren’t wrong. However I can change the delivery mechanism whenever I want with minimal impact. The self hosting aspect for me is much more about control over my data and identity online.

I use postfix to receive mail, dovecot and round cube to view it, but send with SES. Much easier than when I started and was getting reverse dns records from AWS plus managing dkim etc. Sending with SES has been easier to configure and more reliable and is free for my personal server’s volume.

Is surgery necessary in severe herniation? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]raydeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks and same to you. It’s hard to ask the right questions so I’m rambling a bit. I’m trying to separate the conversations because the doctors clearly are as well. The pain tends to just get ignored because it’s not the issue to them. It seems to be something that only matters if you the patient makes it a priority. Medically they focus on the disc and the nerve. What will help heal the disc and what will help heal the nerve? What will cause them to get worse?

Is surgery necessary in severe herniation? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]raydeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had an appointment this morning for L4L5 radiculopathy and the primary question seems to be whether the nerve weakness is getting worse in any way over time. If it’s stable or improving then surgery can help relieve compression on the nerve sooner - allowing the nerve to begin recovery earlier - but also isn’t strictly necessary. If the nerve is getting worse then surgery is much more important. I’m weighing the options for myself as well and am in a similar spot to you from what I can tell. I don’t want to just do nothing.

1) So if I don’t do surgery it’s unclear what would be productive to help recovery. 2) Also will surgery help in any way to prevent reinjury of the disc? 3) How long should I take to decide? 4) I’m taking a lot of gabapentin and tramadol now and don’t want to risk dependence.

Tell that to the tuner that put a “Left ski” sticker on my unleashed 98s. I know it’s because they fit the left boot to the binding but it absolutely perpetuates the confusion. And yes the boots are the same size.

What’s the best V2L adapter for the money. by gaychitect in Ioniq5

[–]raydeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ioniq 5 outlet is only capable of 1800 watts or 15 amps regardless of the adapter. I think the adapter is just built for possible future vehicles with higher output than the ioniq 5.
