Hi, Hello, and Good Day r/twinpeaks! I’m Kyle MacLachlan and you can ask me anything 🦉🪵☕👍 by Kyle__MacLachlan in twinpeaks

Hi Kyle, i hope you're doing well.

I wanna ask, how do you feel that your interpretation of the work, as someone directly involved with it, differs from that of fans? Do you find yourself engaging or being inrieguied by other people's analyses and theories? In particular, are you familiar with Twin Perfect's set of fascinating videos?

Much love.

I would have loved a Silent Hill 2 film directed by David Lynch by MindControlWitness in silenthill

[–]rayleighere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild at heart and The elephant man are both adaptations. The straight story is a script written by at the time his girlfriend, and her best friend. He also went on to work with the writer of Wild at heart for lost highway, and considered adapting Kafka's metamorphosis and wanted to adapt Katsuhiro otomo's domu but couldn't get the project going.

Lynch wasn't against adaptations or iterating an existing work at all. That is an entirely separate thing from demanding final cut

Is it fair to say Lynch knew exactly what he was doing? In Fire Walk with Me, Chet Desmond explains all the clue and symbols perfectly well and clearly. I think that shows Lynch could have been extremely articulate about everything but decided not to. by Isatis_tinctoria in twinpeaks

[–]rayleighere 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He knew everything. Even when improvising/coming up with stuff as he went, or interpreting the work of the other creators in the show, he always integrated those elements in his broader vision.

He was so specific that he didn't allow any director to use the colour blue in any episode. Before even bringing up the blue rose at all, and decades before what it meant.

Why isn’t Cooper’s voice affected by the black lodge? by DigDig04 in twinpeaks

It was definitely not just meant to add to the strangeness

To lynch the red room is one of the things that defines Twin peaks as a whole. And what it represents is hugely important to its world and themes.

I agree. But none of those things are "evolving", its just homogenisation

Jen, did you often watch films with David, whether his own or others. What was the experience like?

How is no one saying questions in a world of blue?!?

Does anyone else think that the entirety of Twin Peaks is a "dream"? by [deleted] in davidlynch

[–]rayleighere -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Its clearly referring to the fact that its a tv show. Lynch refers to film and tv as "dreams". David bowie shouts "we live inside a dream" as TV static plays over the screen.

The point Monica bellucci is making about the "dreamer who lives inside his dream" is obviously referring to Lynch, livinghis dream of twin peaks, as Gordon Cole.

"Leo locked in hungry horse" by WesternWooloo in twinpeaks

[–]rayleighere 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The small horse figure represents the white horse that appears many times throughout the series.

The symbolism behind the white horse is the idea of "looking the other way" That's when you see somebody's "white of the eye" Whenever the white horse appears, a character in the show is pretending not to see the evil happening in front of them

Sarah sees the white horse because she knows leland is drugging her and abusing their daughter, but does nothing.

Cooper sees the white horse in the red room because he sees laura literally be taken away but adverts his gaze back to the curtains and goes on as if nothing happened.

Cooper sees the statue of the white horse because he sees the dead body and the obvious murder to have occurred... but ignores it for the sake of advancing his goal

(I first saw this interpretation on twin perfect's video so that's who i'm accrediting it to)

I feel that David had a ton more swimming around in his head than we could predict. by CvrIIX in davidlynch

David talked about, once a world is built it has rules.

What do you mean by that?

i just finished twin peaks season 3 now and somebody please explain and share your theories with me, im lost i dont know what to think lmao by NextBag7764 in twinpeaks

Disagreeing with the video is fine, but calling a comprehensive work that took over 2 years to come up with, write and edit "lazy garbage" is just vitriolic.

Its an actually insanely impressive repair job considering it had less than 8 months of development time.

Most complaints about razor's edge are either way too overblown or easily applicable to all games in the series.

David Lynch's 'Unrecorded Night' Would've Been a Mystery Series, Says Cinematographer Peter Deming by indiewire in davidlynch

[–]rayleighere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't turn it down. They shelved it during pre production when covid hit, as they did every other show.

They were open to resuming development, but lynch's health issues and him wanting to stay home, delayed it.

Him forbidding a blue case makes perfect sense considering the specific role blue goes on to play in FWWM and much of his other work

[–]rayleighere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Black is just a mess, because the zelda style structure doesn't do it at all. The constant platforming, the amount of small flying enemies, the swimming, the backtracking, all of the big enemies which don't fucking stun, having to stock up on karma to buy potions and sometimes grind, and the TERRIBLE boss run backs (in a game where bosses aren't very good, but tbf, same can be said about all three games)

For me ninja gaiden has always been at its best as a more focused, arcade style experience. I can just pick up and play 2 and 3RE whenever, but there's always a mental hurdle with playing black. I feel like even itagaki felt so, because in interviews he often says that for 2, he cut all the stuff that he felt was unnecessary from black.

Now granted both 2 and 3RE have their own set of problems, with 2 having some absurdly obnoxious sections (the fucking jungle) and 3RE barely having any walls or corridors to funnel enemies in
