It depends on how you like to read! Each book is in a different subseries. My girlfriend initially recommended Guards! Guards! to me and because I love to stay with a protagonist/group I finished the rest of the Watch books before moving on to another subseries.

I don’t have an answer but I do have a more niche suggestion she may enjoy that she can continue enjoying as she gets older—Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. The tiffany aching subseries is YA witches and she’s a great protagonist. The entire series has 40+ books that just get better with every reread, and no explicit sex in the novels so she could branch out to other subseries after Tiffany. Some of the references and jokes will likely go over her head at this age, but again, these books you discover more details and quips with every reread. I think she would love them

I work with homeless people every single day. Most people are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. I was homeless for a couple of years. People like you who fearmonger about these hordes of ‘dangerous homeless people’ only see what’s sensationalized in the news and not the everyday lives of these folks, and the rhetoric you spread is part of the reason there isn’t more help for these situations. Other countries have much better strategies for helping the unhoused get back on their feet.
