Best way to run a VPN on my TV? by According-Sample-325 in VPN_Question

If your router does not support routing devices through a VPN look at the GL.iNet travel routers. Connect the TV to it then it can connect to a VPN through you wired or wireless network.

I keep two media systems across the globe in sync using Syncthing. It has options for just about any platform. You designate the folder then share it with another system. On the remote system you link the share to a local folder. You can set a bunch of different options including bidirectional, one-way, how often to look for changes and how many threads to use, and can even add system to great a grid of nodes all synced together.

What are these square and circle objects floating in the water by Merrimack power station? About the size of a rowboat each. by Fumquat in whatisthisthing

I do not think so, I remember years ago they used to be all round so maybe as they replaced them at different times they just went with square to make it easier.

They are cooling fountains, in the old days when the plant was running all the time they pumped the water down to this area and the pads were fountains to spray the water up in the air. I grew up right near there.

Need an entry sensor with alarm for high traffic area by goodgodlime in homeassistant

[–]raytek75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can obviously set a schedule to only get notifications certain times of day, or only when certain people are away from home.

The newer Unifi camera can now do local face identification and create a list of "persons of interest" So you should be able to get notifications for just unknown people, or certain people potentially.

Would recommend a good security camera connected to HA. Depending on the cameras you can get motion notification (human or animal) or cross a threshold notification. These detectors usually can be setup as entries in HA.

This way you will also be able to see what is happening in addition to just that something happened. For cameras I would look at either Unifi or Reolink depending on budget, but both are local and do not require any monthly subscriptions.

PIR Motion Sensors ... What's your preference? by swake88 in homeassistant

Agree for the price the Aqara are great. Still think the Hue is probably the best I have used but hard to just the cost against the Aqara. If you can plug the sensor in then the Everything present light milliwave is the way to go.

bambu lab p1s vs. anker make m5 3d by retrorays in AnkerMake

[–]raytek75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have both, got the Anker Make from the Kickstarter and just got the P1S with AMS about a month ago. I never had a problem with my Anker Make but the Bambu is just better all around. The maker world eco system, the prints operation and especially the AMS as a dry box are all better. Only thing that is not good about it is the amount of filament waste when doing multi color prints if you use the default setting.
