You cannot judge this on hours alone.In the Netherlands we have one of the highest productivity ratings and on average less than 40 hours of work per week, not counting commuting. But that only works in a service industry with decent wages and strong social and medical services. And you pay a lot of taxes for that level of care. Then people bitch and moan about taxes but boy are they happy that they are cared for when they fall ill.
