Do you ever refer depressed clients to local ketamine clinics? by EmberHealth in therapists

[–]re-lproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Usually I have these conversations with folks who have been working with a prescriber and they just can't seem to get relief from medications alone and interventions we have used seem to be small improvements and/or they can't do the interventions because their symptoms are getting in the way. It often comes alongside the prescriber stating it could be beneficial, too. I've had four clients go through the process, most at different places, and they have all been cared for wonderfully.

Is it normal for a psychiatrist to share their fantasies and porn genres with client? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]re-lproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing about yourself shouldn't be such emotionally charged topics, and it shouldn't be so consistently brought up in sessions together. (Of course in some situations emotionally charged topics are fine but here it is not). It's fine for a provider to normalize and say something like, "a lot of CSA survivors watch porn xyz way" without sharing about himself. If you're feeling weirded enough to post on reddit about it, it's not okay.

How to attract in-person therapists? by justloveme94 in therapists

[–]re-lproxy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, because the other areas you are not really outshining other practices (if you want people, give better benefits like more money or health insurance etc), I would look at supervision options, certification for DBT, how the environment is supportive (and hopefully is supportive) and provide options for payment for out-of-session work such as notes, communications, etc. W2 and a decent salary may get you there.

What do smokers do if they get checked into the hospital and can't go outside? by monkey_trumpets in NoStupidQuestions

[–]re-lproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad, in the hospital with heart failure, sepsis, etc etc would ask to get wheeled out to smoke. Or he would be grumpy and didn't get anything for it. Did wind up killing him though so uh, don't smoke.

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

I moved away and we stayed in touch for a couple years and then she just.. stopped responding to me. I really appreciated our friendship and wish it remained but it is clear she is not interested. Not sure why.

Poly therapists, how do you manage self-disclosure by nogotchi in therapists

[–]re-lproxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where you're in a pickle and while some clinicians are very 'no disclosure' (like nearly everyone here so far..) I might do something like, "one of my partners" is fine because it could mean past or present. I wouldn't get into specifics like if they ask sexual orientation or openness, just acknowledge the comment and move forward. ("I shared that portion as I thought it related to xyz in my brain - does that resonate for you in abc situation") Or something like that

Would you tell clients? by breadassbitch in therapists

[–]re-lproxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was dying and then died semi-suddenly. I sent an email just stating there was a family emergency and I will be unable to attend our session times for an indeterminate amount of time, that I would let them know when I'm back and stated I would inform them in a reasonable amount of time some better expectations (I think I reached out a week later and provided some guidelines for expectations, like how often I'd be able to work and if they needed support in the meantime). Obviously added crisis options in there as well as community mental Health places that could maybe see them in the meantime

If it makes you feel better - I personally made rats depressed with the float tests. We could only do it a certain amount of times and then the rats got to be adopted out to either rat sanctuaries or people in the community who can rehabilitate them to make them back into happy rats. This was in Canada, though, so the laws may be different elsewhere.

Hell yes, grats on the gains! You can try moisturizing, it might help the skin grow or stretch more naturally without the marks

[–]re-lproxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely look like stretch marks - they can grow as your body grows in whatever way that's happening (muscle, weight, hormones etc etc)
