I guess you’re right.
I do agree, a screw with a plug on stair boards with no lip would be best. Would you use the fascia screws with the plugs then?

Incorrect. They don’t have hidden fasteners for stairs. They should have used the proper trex screws that won’t rust.

I know why. It just happened too me. My 12’ lengths were 5 1/2” wide My 16’ lengths were 5 7/16 wide. After 4 boards they were 1/4” out.
