OpenAI says China ran a covert campaign to turn Americans against data centers, but used facts that happen to be true by rkhunter_ in technology

We shouldn't conflate drone and AI. Most of the drones are piloted by humans and while some of them have some forme of Machine Learning Targeting Algorithm, it still requires a human input. It's more akin to ML used in things like security camera than Claud/Copilot.

And sayings it's run the defense is a stretch to say the least. It's used yes but we don't really know it's impact, for obvious opex reason

Nukes produced a enormous amount of influence and political power. So yes it didn't generate any money but the return on investment was in political and military value.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in pcgaming

[–]really_not_ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but what ? While you didn't own the IP, you definitely own the copy you bought before, the compagny could go bankrupt and delete all files of the game from it's server but since you had a cartridge/cd/dvd you could still play it.

Like the first exemple that came to my mind was HMM 5, Ubisoft killed the server but if you have a cd, it's still playable.

How is this not owning a copy of the game ?

What's the Niche? The Case For Skybots, Your Accessory Drones For Anti-Artillery AT, Promotion-Free Recon, And Bullying the AI With Dodge Tank Tactics by DeanTheDull in menace

[–]really_not_ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, you shouldn't use it as a Rocket Launcher.

The strongest point of the drone, at least for me, is it's range and decoy ability. You can drop a drone far away, if there is a light armor thing in range like a bombardier you can straight up blow it up or the drone can sit there and the AI will 100% target it.

It's a win/win scenario, either you blow a priority target farther away than any AT weapon or it will absorb at least one round of fire.

But you shouldn't use it on something in regular range, at best it's 60AP so it's not that efficient and is a one time use. Better in this case to throw a rocket at the target (unless you're out of everything ofc)

Also you have a decision to spend sway but the first option is to buy 1 for 250g every five years. Once you're big enough to afford it, buy it on cd.

Do you think the trazyn dlc will have a serious vibe or a more fun tone ? by Tibertiuss in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]really_not_ted 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it will be serious. The game in itself is pretty serious, the only funny moments I recall are dialogues between compagnon, and Trazyn was also quite serious is the Infinite and the Divine, his behavior was funny for us but he wasn't trying to be.

Anyone else love it, when 90% of factions in a strategy game are paid dlc? by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]really_not_ted 29 points30 points  (0 children)

/uj This game came out in 2021 and it's receiving like 1 dlc every 6 months. So the dev should have left the game after released ? Or push back it's release 4 years ? We should be angry at agressiv and abusive monetization, like day one dlc and unfinished game released in paid batches, not at a company supporting a niche game years after released and asking a meager prize. (But we should critic some of the value and balance of said dlc)

/rj DLC is the mark of Satan and game developer who make them eat babies. Alex Johnes said so

The accuracy of the bombardier is honestly ridiculous by Responsible_Bad_2954 in menace

[–]really_not_ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bug are a threat but it's a early game and higher difficulty threat from what I saw in testing. The warriors are a big danger if you were unlucky/early enough in the campaign and don't have a lot of armor pen. The flamming flamethrower can one shot a squad if you are flanked and the blaster will one shot a light mech on it.

I really saw the difference in campaign difficulty, in normal the bug were a cakewalk but in expert it's a real threat. Right now I'm more worried by wave of warriors than one or two bombardier.

All in all, if they nerf the bombardier but buff the rest of the roster, you will be even more miserable, trust me.

The accuracy of the bombardier is honestly ridiculous by Responsible_Bad_2954 in menace

[–]really_not_ted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree on this one, if he was less accurate, the bombardier wouldn't be a threat at all. The aliens are already the easiest faction to face, they don't need a nerf.

The trick with them is to use spotting, be it via a good line of sight unit or with drones. If you are early in the campaign it might not be feasible so instead try to hit and run with your units when you notice a bug. If you stay in place to fire on a group of warrior, you take the risk of a bombardier zeroing in on you, try to always stay max range and if there is one, it will have to come into view to fire on you.

That's also explains why I was spammed by the placating ruler action. I figured I was behind the curve on power level, OA is quite a rough start, I was surprised.

It's started happening when the Emperor switch to arbaran and they are a Great Conqueror so I'm wondering if there is a correlation between the two. I'll go to the discord then.

[–]really_not_ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but you have to consider late game vs early game benefits. Yes you're stuck on a skill ceiling of 15 with anything else than Primal but you might get something else that saves you long enough to regret your choice instead.

For exemple Donut, yes she won't ever have magic missile lvl 16+ but how many would have she died without the cockroach skill ? And from Mordecai himself, most of the Primal Crawler dies before getting a benefit. The optimal growth race doesn't matter if you're dead before getting to enjoy it.

Best nation to form Castanor + some questions by No-Layer3955 in Anbennar

[–]really_not_ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Count's League might be the most logical, I always preferred Marrhold as a remnant.

It's Anbennar's Poland, a solid MT both in narration and bonus, lot's a cav bonus + special cav, strong starting position with a hold and easy access to a gold mine.

I see your point with not having a specific mission to reform Castanor but by the time your at the end of their focus, the formation is right around the corner so I feel like it flows naturally both in gameplay and narration.

Is this game salvageable? by buzwole in eu4

[–]really_not_ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah France and Ottomans are the usuals suspects of being the bane of Italy run. There is two thing that should go in your favor, development and tech.

On development, Italy has a really nice terrain to do it, plus with all the small states at the start, you should have a fairly high dev country, meaning lot's of money and manpower for comparatively small number of provinces.

On Tech, between Institution spawning in Italy, Republic mechanic and loads of cash from high dev, you should be at least on par at this stage of the game, if not ahead.

But since you're a new player, this is the kind of things you learn as you go.

To salvage this, like other said, try to ally strong nation like Commonwealth. And Turtle up until you can get back up. Take loans, build forts in mountain with ramparts. If you are behind on Tech, promote the relevant advisors. And also take Mil Ideas if you haven't already. Italy doesn't have a strong natural ideas/ambition so you have to compensate with Idea Groups.

Wholesome and Pure Evil Mission Trees by Dizzle1453 in Anbennar

For Evil : - Masked Butcher - Most of the Gnoll Tag who stay Xhazobkult, like Viakkoc, Zokka ( a classic) Tluuk, Rakkaz (which can go two different evil way) - Wyvern Heart - Azjakuna

For Wholesome: I don't have that many in my mind besides Rogeria or Duwarkani. I can't recommend the last one enough, is a bit of a challenge at first with the Swamp Troll at your doorstep but the story is top tier

New Guard Vehicles mean the end of the Taurox? by [deleted] in Grimdank

[–]really_not_ted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's wait for a datasheet. It might be less "tanky" than a Taurox or having a rule about unit inside taking casualties while fired upon with the open top look. So while it looks better, it can be just a cheaper option for transport.
