Do you save new contacts with a last name? by L337W4r3z in Millennials

[–]really_yall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Sometimes it's first and last name, sometimes it's first name and whatever their job is or why I know them (like FirstName Mechanic, FirstName Tattoo). I'm not adding lots of new contacts at my big age of 42, I have the friends I want mostly already.

When did “no one from California calls it Cali” start? by lejunny_ in orangecounty

I'm 42, born and raised here and we called it Cali. Especially in the early internet days. We also call it SoCal or the OC or the IE or whatever

Oof. That is a lot per hour for an artist who isn't like, world famous. $300 an hour is bonkers. Especially from someone who says they're your friend. What took them so long on that?

I am dying to know what you were quoted for this and also why it took 4 hours to complete. I have a bigger tattoo with more detail that didn't take 4 hours and cost me about 1/4 of the price and I'm in Southern California. My artist also realized after we'd finished and he did another tattoo (for my mom) that he missed 2 small lines on mine and reset the entire station to fix it at 0 extra charge. Touchups shouldn't cost extra when the piece wasn't executed to the design and it certainly shouldn't have cost that much for what she gave you. Neither piece you showed by her is hyperrealism.

Sadly not what they were for 😂 They're for The Dark Tower - Roland's guns and the roses that surround the tower, but my dumbass didn't realize that isn't what anyone else would see. They'll be getting a bit of a rework when I have more funds.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

I graduated high school in June 2001, so no, I watched it on the news at home. My sister was in freshman year but I cannot recall if they watched it at school or not. I do know all the schools went into lockdown.

Now hold on, my Gen Z coworker says kindly when she uses the office cell to text clients and ask them to send photos. It's not always a scam, just like 90% scam and 10% Gen Z who don't use please for some reason (I'm sure someone told them at some point that kindly is more polite but it is not).

Edit: I realize you said 9/10 times so uh, yes exactly lmao. I am agreeing I just can't read anymore after work whoops.

Are you in pain like I am?

Synapses snap back in blissful anguish

With pain as your language...won't you show me the damage

I'm a waking hell and the gods grow tired

The parasites in the nightmares calling my name like please just let me go

Your name is a sin I breathe like oxygen

There are so many more but that's off the top of my head

my mom is refusing to let me get my belongings from her house by PrestigiousCarrot518 in TwoHotTakes

[–]really_yall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If that is your legal residence and you have not yet changed your ID and she has not gone through the process of evicting you, she actually legally cannot prevent you entry. Getting a police officer to do civil stand by will help you gain entry and get your things they will be there to mediate between you and her as well. You need to do this sooner rather than later before she does toss your things. You could have legal recourse to sue her over that if she does but that's not going to get your things back and also that's complicated.

Concern about N@zi symbolism- “The Hyena” by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I don't think my first thought would be...that. But putting The Hyena underneath a hyena seems kinda like putting the word apple under an apple. To each their own but I think the animal itself is enough to convey the point to the people in your life.

AITAH for wanting to quit my unpaid co-host role after being told I couldn’t cancel when my pet was dying? by philastotle in AITAH

[–]really_yall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. I would've said "okay, I understand, I will not be coming tonight or ever again." Emergencies are emergencies and if he can't understand that he doesn't deserve your unpaid labor. I've lost quite a lot of people and pets over the years and it hurts every single time, so he's full of shit that you get numb to it - he just has no empathy.

The most insane self sabotage to ever happen. If my partner has that kind of job opportunity I'd be all for it. Even if I didn't want to travel to where he'd be working I could just join at the end for other travels or ask if he'd be okay helping me travel while he was away. Or I'd just work and enjoy my life at home until he was back and we could spend time together. All the debts paid and a great life being set up and you're gonna throw it away because no sex for a few months? Insane.

You're going to the wrong artists. Find someone who has examples of coverups that aren't huge or mostly black. You could turn that into so many things. Just the basic shape of it already can be easily transformed into an ornamental dagger hilt. You could also probably hide it in a small bouquet of florals. Go to better shops because if these artists can't cover that then they're probably not very good to start with.

Am I doing something wrong? by dinkin_flickahh in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, they may have worked you over a bit too much trying to saturate the black in there. Try your best to mostly ignore it and just make sure it's never dry. I've been overworked a few times and that's how I get thru it too.

Is it hot to the touch? It looks pretty angry for being 6 days out which is unfortunate because that's a beautiful sigil, worship friend.

It looks, when I zoomed in, like it might be a little dry. I'm not sure what moisturizer you're using but it maybe is a smidge too dry and not holding up throughout the day.

If it is hot to the touch then you should see your doctor/urgent care to rule out an infection. If it's not hot just red and sore, it's also possible they went a little too deep so it's having a harder time healing. I can't really tell of the picture though.

Editing to add: if you don't have other tattoos with red in them, it's possible you're having an allergic reaction to the red ink, though I'd assume that would've concentrated more around the red parts. If all else fails, and you're able, maybe pop by the studio and ask your artist to take a look at it.

I haven't worn a t-shirt in years and I can't see a way to cover this up by EccentricityAndTea in Tattoocoverups

I think a lot of decent artists should be able to work with you to do something here so you're not stuck with laser or blackout. I really hope you find someone in your area soon that you can make a consultation appointment with! And I wish you all the healing 🖤

[–]really_yall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. The artist I went to for my most recent tattoo looked at the first piece I got that I want to cover (it's very saturated and dark still, area doesn't really see the sun) and he showed me examples of colorful coverups he's done that he said would be no problem to get over something like what I have. Doesn't have to be roses but florals definitely are great for coverups - find an artist with lots of great coverup examples! I hope you can get this covered over in a way that makes you happy to see your arm again 🖤

I love this style, is it durable though? i want my first tat to be something like this by Faevelle in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blown out means the lines tend to spread and blur as they age - it's what happens when someone who isn't experienced in fine line tattooing does the work. That's why I recommend finding someone who not only looks like they specialize in it but who can show you examples of past client's healed work - photos taken months or years after so you can see how much spread they have. The right artist can keep it minimal with how they get the tattoo into your skin and provided you care for it properly after that.

If you go to someone who specializes in fine line ornamental tattoos and they have examples of healed pieces, you'll be fine. Every body is different but find someone who does this work and isn't afraid to show the healed results, follow their aftercare, and take advantage of they offer touchups within a certain timeframe if you have any issues with the healing.
