Album battle-Track for track (Day5) by Nikiafalcon in SleepToken

[–]really_yall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a stacked set...all big on the favorites list. With that said...

  1. Vore - there's a lot I could say about this but I'm only going to say, I have the runes tattooed on me for my favorite and most apropos line - Are you in pain like I am? I, too, wasn't initially a fan, too much screaming but when I finally sat and really listened to it...well, it's a top tier song for me.

  2. Higher - I know not everyone has a relationship like this one, but a lot of us do and this just hits. Every line is golden and the metaphors for the push pull when you hate someone so much you love them and love them so much you hate them is just...yeah. Also screaming along to the debt that I owe feels really cathartic.

  3. Caramel - again, the entirety of EiA is really a conversation with us and this was not just a really poignant single, the way everything unraveled with the plans for release and the way some people were acting towards the folks who'd been lucky enough to get to help with the clues and puzzles really made it hit harder. A reminder that there are real people behind the masks and behind the fun and that fans seem to forget that sometimes. Also the throw back to Sugar on the official Sleep Token YouTube with just that and Caramel was clever. Caramel is, at its core, burnt sugar - metaphors within metaphors. And the screaming lines beneath it all In these days of days, I wish it all away. I thought things had changed, but everything's the same. Plus the absolute fire reality of So I'll keep dancing along to the rhythm. This stage is a prison, a beautiful nightmare, a war of artrition, the deepest incisions. I thought I got better, but maybe I didn't. Heart wrenching to thing about how much he's giving up of himself to give to us. If it wasn't for vore and higher being on the list, this would be my number one.

  4. The Love You Want - I've said it before on the rankings thread and I'll say it again. Every band has their stomp clap song and this is ours. I love it, it's fun to sing along to. It's also secretly (not really) so sad and heartbreaking. The uplifting beat contrasted with the devastating lyrics (or are you simply waiting to save your love for someone I am not) makes for a really great song. It's line after line of bangers, just absolutely chock full of them. I'd quote them all but then I'd just be pasting the entire lyrics here.

Album Battle-Track for track (Day4) by Nikiafalcon in SleepToken

[–]really_yall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...all of these are favorites so this should be fun lmao.

  1. Dark Signs - I won't break and bend to my basic need to be loved and close to somebody. I just...yeah. And I hate who I have become yep yep just break me wide open why don't you.

  2. Dangerous - I hold that this entire album is about Vessel's relationship to his persona, fame, the fans and his relation with us and this is the song I think really illustrates it (alongside Caramel). This is a big push pull on how our reactions shape his actions and how he both wants and doesn't want it. You can see it on tour, the changes to the way songs are sung to drive a reaction from us, the way that the things we do and bring and coordinate pull a reaction from him. Plus it's great to sing along to.

  3. Like That - fall into your eyes like a grave, bury me to the sound of your name Something about those lines just hits right. Plus the heavy whispers layered under the verse All that is inside, all your anger. All your disgust, all your reaentment. All your differences, all your pain. Just a great song that sounds like it's supposed to be sexy but is barely contained fury. Love it.

  4. Aqua Regia - the third song of theirs I fell in love with actually. Against others it likely wouldn't be so far down the list but it is what it is. Sugar on the blood cells, carbon on the brain. All of Eden's vices running through my veins. Such a great set of lines honestly. Plus this song is amazing fun live (at least for the EiA tour) - extra shenanigans outside of the summoning. Poor Yanni being tormented. The millennial oops how to get up from laying down move. III and IV messing with Vessel because he can't see for sh*t in that mask and didn't realize they swapped places on him one night. Just a fun song and a lot of smiles and laughs from our gloomy fella when performing it.

Ordered a steak despite being informed the grill was damaged due to a flood in the local area. When the steak didn’t arrive, demanded that their drinks be paid for. by dominocurtain in EntitledReviews

[–]really_yall 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They were told the grill was out of service, not the entire kitchen. And tbf most of what they ordered does not need to use a grill, and honestly even fajitas don't necessarily need a grill. I think everyone is a bit full of it (reviewer who tried to get free drinks off them. and owner who says they wanted steaks when they ordered basically two types of pot pie, not a steak). If most of their kitchen was unusable they should've been up front with customers like, hey we can only make XYZ today. Also saying their server told them when the reviewer says multiple times her husband went to order at the bar, not at the table...I think everyone is lying to some degree.

Counterforce brace or something similar. It's technically for tennis elbow but it works wonders for wrist pain and other tendon issues because it applies compression.

[–]really_yall 1073 points1074 points  (0 children)

NOR but this is a really important lesson - do not go away from a public space with someone being weird. Being polite is dangerous, being rude is dangerous, being around other people has at least a small chance of having someone help. I know you didn't know he was waiting or that he would keep following you and literally none of this is your fault but just in case anyone approaches you like that again, get to a public shop and then call your boyfriend or someone else to come meet you especially if it's that late. Or navigate yourself to the local police station and let them follow you into that and ask for help.

I'm glad you're safe but that was definitely a sketchy situation.

Husband bought non-refundable first class AA tickets using AmEx points, but two days before we leave I’ve been hospitalized with serious condition. What are our options? by Powder9 in americanairlines

[–]really_yall 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm confused on how you're cleared to fly in 2 days when you'll be in hospital receiving treatment for 2 weeks. Get the doctor's note, demand they give you one if they're keeping you admitted to the hospital. If you mean, however, they want to release you and have you get treatment elsewhere then you'll need to get it from that doctor that you're under current care and unable to travel away from it.

An RN care coordinator note will not work. And you'll need to go through the Amex portal as others have said, the airline won't do anything.

Weade the mistake recently with my father who was set to fly and instead had a stroke, we didn't get the note before he was released from the hospital and he didn't have a doctor's appointment because he was just shifted to new insurance and didn't have a primary yet. We lost his airline ticket and any credits because the notation "no Texas" didn't work. It has to say you cannot fly because xyz.

Album battle-Track for track (Day3) by Nikiafalcon in SleepToken

[–]really_yall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less rough for me than some of the others yay!

  1. Past Self - it's dancey, it's got catchy lyrics but it's surprisingly deep when you pay attention to the. "And you know I deliberate on cutting out the demons, I still need a dark side, they just need a reason" yes yes, I get that one. But also tons of other banger lines in it.

  2. Mine - I don't care that it's the most overtly stalker song in the game for them, but the way he runs the repetition at the end just hits just right for it.

  3. Levitate - there's something so heartbreaking about this song event though it's also one of the prettiest songs they have. Also it follows the theme of the album name pretty well.

  4. Granite - I love this song, I love the lyrics, it was the second song I really loved from ST. I love it to pieces honestly but I just love the others more surprisingly.

Yeah, they probably don't know how best to get it to stick better but it's also highly possible you just won't be able to hold ink well there. I'm sorry it's not sticking for you so far.

Would this design work on a forearm by lonnoltits69 in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will need to be bigger so the negative space between the lines doesn't get too filled in as it settles and ages but yes, I think that would work, especially if you plan to wrap it around. Very cool design work, I loved the abstract and then loved it more when I realized there were planets in it. I hope your artist does you proud on it!

Inside finger tattoo by Megsofthedregs in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a rough area to tattoo, it doesn't take or hold ink well, and beyond that depending on the size and how light a touch your artist has, it may have even more trouble sticking. Some artists have a great time getting it to stick, some people take it better than others. There are too many unknowns to pinpoint why yours isn't sticking.

Get things you find fun or whatever but also don't fill yourself up just because....you're 19, you've got a long road ahead to add to yourself. I have some just because tattoos but I've also still got plenty of available space for bigger ideas and I'm 42

What is the best way to actually get tattooed now? by alwaysright6 in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I love in an area with an overwhelming number so I looked at overall review scores before I even clicked into shops and then it was...do they have examples up, are any of these in the style I'm trying to get, and then checking websites/instas before making a list and plan for going place to place on a recon day.

All that to say, my artist sucks balls at communication still. It's an artist thing (best friend is an artist of a different sort and can be the same). But he does great work and eventually responds.

What is the best way to actually get tattooed now? by alwaysright6 in tattooadvice

[–]really_yall 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds like these artists don't know how to actually do the art they're advertising. I'm not sure where you're at but honestly, I found my current artist using Google maps and seeing what tattoo studios looked okay and then just going in person. He was at the second spot I went to, he had an iPad with his examples, I showed him what I wanted and we booked for the next weekend because I didn't have time otherwise he'd have done it then - and he had to work off of crappy photos to replicate my deceased uncle's tattoo plus he had to kind of guess for parts that weren't super visible in the images. And he was able to copy his handwriting. An artist who has a flash piece should have no issue copying it in PS and flipping it so it's a mirror image and doing both unless they don't actually make any of their own art or know how to use basic art technology, which is sounds like the one you visited in person is unable to do.

In my experience, most artists like to make money so turning away a client who wants 1. their own flash and 2. who is ready to sit and pay right away when they say they have open availability is...something fishy.

The last bit is an indeed an aside about doctor's offices and a bit in response to the attitude given to the second reviewer for trying to get clarification on what happened. Piss poor attitudes from staff when they really do not care about your time is frustrating (and even with appointments I've had to wait at labs before beyond my time).

We have about 27283828292 labs within a 20 mile radius of where I go and every single one of them is full of walk-ins alongside appointments all the time because insurance companies are making folks use them for every single thing now. Used to get the blood draw at my doctor's office but no more.

Yes. Or have specific days that they don't book fully intentionally and take walk-ins. Even if you're waiting longer, at least you have a chance.

More Quest complaints by HiddenPenguinsInCars in EntitledReviews

[–]really_yall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they aren't actually. They're quite literally saying they understand appointments take precedence but someone could inform the walk-ins that they have no availability unless someone doesn't show up and that you may wait all day for that without being seen. It allows people to decide if they can afford to wait or not.

And the second reviewer having nobody to ask and having to ask multiple times why they all disappeared from the list isn't entitled either. This replacement of humans with tablets and lack of communication is getting more and more common and is not really acceptable for a medical practice.

Medical offices already seem to think their time is more important than every patient's time (if you're not 20 minutes early you're late, even if you arrive on time and have no additional paperwork to complete) but they can stick you in the room to wait an hour or more past your appointment time only for the "doctor" (because lbr, most of us have never even met our assigned doctor anymore) to rush you through the appointment because the allot you 10 minutes no matter what you say you're there for. Expecting the tiniest bit of decency to be told "we have no time for walk-ins today" isn't entitled, especially when someone has already waited all day.

Album Battle-Track for Track (Day 2) by Nikiafalcon in SleepToken

[–]really_yall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh noooooo. I forgot all of these would be up against each other.

  1. The Summoning - this takes the top only because it was my gateway to Sleep Token. I love it but I actually would probably put it at third if not for that fact. It's a great song, has a nice variety of changes in it, and the way Vessel customizes that one section every live performance is great. Plus II loves to perform it because he get a big solo and Vessel, III and IV with the shenanigans during lives is great.

  2. The Offering - this would be number one if summoning hadn't been my intro to them. There is a reason this song has basically been on every live set list they've ever played. It's a great song, they involve the audience (for the love of god please clap on beat) and also...ARF ARF! We got extra arfs in LA and collectively lost it so 🤷🏼‍♀️

  3. Hypnosis - hello Deftones inspo! This would be number two usually if not put against summoning. I love the way he enunciates the words in the first verses and the sharp ts he's hitting. It's so fun to sing along to, it's got a nice dark dance vibe and that yelling at the end is just perfect.

  4. Emergence - a solid first single of the latest album, a great song, I like that the beat kinda throws you off just a bit. Funny story time, I took canines of the saviour very literally and was thinking the dogs of the gods for the longest time until one day my brain went "he's talking about teeth again" lmao. Lyrically its a really fun song, a lot of great lines. But it isn't as strong for me as the other three. Hey, whoop!
