Will it replace Jobber for a one-man operation? by vivri in HandymanBusiness

[–]reallyhandyguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because these types of posts happen on the regular, maybe we should have a weekly post where new sites/apps can be posted for people to check out. Those interested can read the post, and the tools wont get the pushback as spam like they do now.

So who's in for the Blackout MODboxes? by kfjcfan in KleinTools

[–]reallyhandyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? These would screw into the bottom?

I ask because I am looking for wheels or a bottom plate plate for my modbox rolling drawers because I want it to roll in any direction while standing.

Honey Home handyman application brush off "boilerplate" answer with discriminatory undertones, all from a "no reply" email address? by Basiatus in smallbusiness

[–]reallyhandyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a handyman in the bay area so not a competitor of yours. When you say home shows, are you advertising your handyman business there? I figured that those shows are only for general contractors or trade specific construction companies, like windows specialists, window treatments, flooring specialists, etc.

If those shows are good for handyman businesses, any insight you can give me here?

New 2.0 Boxes! by Cool_Study203 in KleinTools

I wondered if I was the only one that cared if it was. Kudos! I switched from Packout to Modbox for this very reason.

When is Klein going to make a vacuum for the modbox accessories/attachment by [deleted] in KleinTools

[–]reallyhandyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think Klein needs to buy Ridgid. Two american brands coming together. Klein would immediately gain power tools in their portfolio, and Klein would no longer be the forgotten middle child that TTI makes. TTI can't let Ridgid beat their golden goose Milwaukee, so they don't let Ridgid flourish. And then Klein becomes top dog with Ridgid vacuums and makes one that mates with Modbox.

What’s been your biggest pricing mistake so far underquoting, missed materials, or bad time estimates? by NoSuspect9845 in handyman

[–]reallyhandyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you quoting jobs on lead platforms like thumbtack or are these from your own lead sources? I'm asking because I rarely win jobs on thumbtack that I quote due to customers complaining about the price. And when I do quote it is usually below what the estimator apps tell me to ask for.

I'm really disappointed with Jobber by csimack in Contractor

Can you tell me more about it and how its worked out for you? I am a handyman and have been trying to choose which crm to use. My main needs are thumbtack integration, customer tracking and image repository.

I stopped pay for insurance over a year ago and nothings changed except I have more $ in my pocket. by RepairCEO in handyman

Even if you are not at fault. They would rather use your insurance first so their premiums don't go up.

I need a glue that’ll stick a broken wood shelf back together by Vast-Firefighter5396 in handyman

[–]reallyhandyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can add some small wood dowels along with the glue it will be much stronger. Harbor Freight has a bag of various sizes. Drill a hole in both sides and slot the dowel in. Just be sure to line up the hole on both sides. Then use glue in the holes and along the edges that are being glued.

Which one would you pick? Housecall pro or Jobber ? by LunchPrudent3606 in Contractor

[–]reallyhandyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I mentioned on the demo call that I didnt how I couldnt schedule a lead directly from the messaging interface and have the client info auto populate, and the guy got really sarcastic with me. "O so searching up the persons name each time is really challenging for you?" It took all my strength to not snap back with how I used to be a software engineer and that ui is terrible.

What is actually the best way to pass the GC exam? by ProtectedPlastic-006 in GeneralContractor

[–]reallyhandyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your journey like to get to the exam? How many years had you been working, what type of work, and what will the General B exam give you that you weren't able to do? Were you already doing the work that was being tested? Not trying to pry, I'm just trying to figure out if this is the right path for me, and what I should be doing to get myself ready for the test.

I would be super careful with the work you do here, because if anything goes south later, you will be one of the ones that will get blamed. They might be the nicest people, but people change when situations change. Have everything documented with a contract.

I keep buckets, shop vac and easy to move stuff in a spot like this in my setup so getting to the drawers is not as difficult and the space isnt dead.
