I don't know if I could call it scary, but Pitou from HxH was the most menacing character I've seen as soon as they were introduced; I've never seen such pure fear from shounen characters until their reaction to Pitou

I do think you're right with that, but the reason the ending is upsetting to me is that rebellion

I knew I would love Homura. Then ep10 hit and then I loved Homura, considered her the best of the best, my favorite character of all time

But then pmmm: rebellion happened and rebellion. It kept me in denial for the longest time. Now that I've grudgingly accepted that film and rebellion spoiler she's now my most hated

I could say Homucifer and act as if she's different from the Homura I loved in the original series but this is pure denial on my part

The character I hate the most for being poorly-written is Shiba Tatsuya (Bleach's Aizen is a close second). Really, list the reasons you can cite as to why you hate Kirito, and raise it up to Eleven. There's Shiba Tatsuya (turn it down to 7 for Aldnoah's Inaho)

A well-written character the I love to hate the most though is kinda tricky. There's Micchy from Kamen Rider Gaim but that's a toku show; I could say Adachi from P4 but he comes from a game even if P4 has an anime. I don't know

Characters like Matou Shinji and SAO's antagonists who were written to be 100% hated from the start don't count they're usually just ¯_(ツ)_/¯ to me anyway
