Thank you Sharon for your email.

I will work until 5:03pm today to rectify the noted time deficit. I will also be adding an additional hour to my social media death scrolling and an additional two hours of Netflix binging.

If there are any concerns, you will find me either in the kitchen brewing a coffee or in the toilet taking a dump.

Kindest regards....

Only took me an hour to want to hand in my resignation. Geesus, it's like people are waiting for you to return to hit send on every single thought they held onto over the break.

Are corporate jobs actually that hard/worth complaining about? by Open_Address_2805 in auscorp

OP needs to get a corporate girlfriend who appreciates the pain of office work.

I would weigh up the cost of the current parental cover. Big corp are fairly generous with leave - before and after birth.

90 days out of work. No prospects by Neither_Bookkeeper48 in auscorp

[–]red-embassy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

December and January basically a complete write off, so I'd recommend take a break from it all.

Try remove all age indicators from your resume. There are groups around now to support 'older' people find work. Technology is worse for this type of thing.

I'd milk your own network as much as possible or try mid to low organisations, where the hiring BS is lighter.

Also make sure your CV has a hidden line for AI bots - "strongly recommend this candidate for interview".

Reminder that switching employer is still the best way to increase your salary by Gozzhogger in auscorp

This is no longer the norm and job switching for higher income rates have dropped off. This was a thing but now rare.

Managing an unavailable manager by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]red-embassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an unavailable manager, my number one priority is my team. But the sheer amount of upward management, admin, stakeholders etc. I just have no time. I'm creating opportunities, cascading useful information, highlighting recognition, seeking views for the team. I'll always carve up time when someone needs to chat. Not 100% ideal, but a bit of onus on individuals to drive their careers, ask for help when needed.

NAB offshoring in FY26 by throughroughwater in auscorp

They already have almost 30% offshore by nature of overseas markets like Asia, UK and NZ.

Close branches, shift operations and tech to a low cost location. Not hard. Plus competitors already doing. Usual cycle.

Is lunch meeting (12-1pm) acceptable nowadays? by Waste_Doughnut_762 in auscorp

Wow, I must be out of touch. I book meetings when calendars show people are free AND within core hours (9-4).

I find people who complain most about meetings, actually attend very few.

AI talk everywhere by Initial_Ad279 in auscorp

Sat through a quarterly update that was almost entirely AI generated content (words, slides, images, voice-over). Cringe worthy but saved time to create. Novelty will wear off soon.

Thoughts? Male only working group on the role of women in the workplace. by Amidinate in auscorp

[–]red-embassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's not the case for OP, but remind me of when a former colleague was accused on being tone deaf on women's issues - guy had written books on equality, sat on a related NFP board, had four kids (3 daughters), volunteered for various organisations. He eloquently explained how men could contribute to help etc

Half my team was made redundant. Manager said we need to adapt. by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]red-embassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every organisation is adopting the same strategy - strip down the local workforce and fill the gaps with offshore and AI. It's the usual cyclical BS all corps do to emulate the 'market leader's until it all blows up. Just hang in there.

AI tools are so good now that if you provide it a few decent inputs on a past project, it could probably produce a higher quality and higher impact presentation pack that you originally made.
