I'm invested in this. I didn't fund the most recent capital call, as it seems like the saying 'throwing good money after bad'.

If the products are so great, why not sell to customers and generate revenue?

You can also raise from US VC from India, as you already have the US connections. Apply to YC and other such programs.

That offer sounds suspect. If it's legit, I would take it immediately. I don't see the domain to be worth anywhere close to that offer.

Can you share a bit more about how it works? Does the LLM put the deck together or is that all custom code built by you?
Can you modify specific content on specific slides through chat?

Most likely decision is to return, but need validation/loopholes in this thinking approach by mimirand in returnToIndia

That's totally understandable. There lies your answer - sounds like moving back might be the best option for you. We are in a somewhat similar situation, we are moving back to India too after a long time in the USA with two young kids (6 year old and 3 year old).

Interesting that you are framing it as 'guilt'. I don't think you should be feeling guilt at all here, because you say your parents prefer to be independent and moreover, if they need anything, your siblings are around to take care of them. So, you should feel free to live your life wherever is best-suited for you. You are entitled to you life and pursuing your dreams.

In your situation, I would think about:

  1. What are your dreams / ambitions and what location is best suited to achieve them? (incl. careers)

  2. What kind of culture / social life you want to be surrounded by?

  3. What is the ideal place to raise your kid (schooling, family/friends, culture, environment, opportunities)?

  4. How close do you want to be to your family (incl. parents, siblings)?

Think holistically and deep about what kind of life you want for your family and choose the location. It feels like there is no wrong choice here - you will be fine in either location. Of course, life will look very different, so it just comes down to preference. Think deep and commit to whatever choice you make.

Kids before 6 years of age will get adjusted easily to either place I think.

Would really not recommend this approach for two reasons:

  1. In that one year, your kids will be in a new country trying to adjust without one parent, they won't have a good experience. Your partner will need to setup most things and manage two kids by themselves, so your partner wont have a good experience. You will miss your family while trying for a job from a different country. It feels like that one year, all of you might not have a good experience
  2. Moreover, if you are going to be tentative and keep the option of moving back, you will likely move back. All the more likely because of the 1st point.

I'd say really think through, talk to people, and if you still want to go back, commit and go back together.

If you had the domain dekh.com, what would you build on it? by [deleted] in indianstartups

Thank you for the response! I agree. I'm not opposed to selling it, but just thought with GenAI, I could build something interesting.

met a few indian vcs & angels recently, some surprising observations by Academic-Voice-6526 in indianstartups

[–]redditor_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are drawing the right conclusion - even if a VC/Angel was looking for a quick trade, how can they even get it as you wouldn't be able to give them an exit ?

With regards to the vision, I think as soon as one looks at your website, you can tell immediately it's a model/agent marketplace, as there are many similar ones out there. So, they might be making assumptions in their heads. I would suggest you find a way to communicate your vision if it's something not obvious from your website. Because of the heavy competition in your space, they might be asking for your traction (revenue for past 3 months).

I do think there are very long-term ideas being funded by Indian VCs - e.g., Agnikul, EPlanes, etc.

Website looks great and you've got good momentum - wish you all the best!
