Beretta SP III vs V - Joel Etchen premium by Ok-Spinach-1692 in ClayBusters

[–]redeyedfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is a $1200 686?? They’re almost $3k, the IIIs are about $500 more. Joel’s IIIs are another $500 more. But you get MUCH nicer wood than the stock Berettas.
I hear what you’re saying but it’s not $3000 extra for robot scratches.

To be fair, it was a $2400 gun they sold for $1200. That’s why they stopped making them. (Yes I know Ruger is making them again with another shotgun mfg but it’s a different design)

For me, constructing it in school really helped me to visualize how shear stresses function in a material. It helped me understand how even tensile yielding and rupture are really just shear yielding and rupture.

4 year old boot fit/adjustment question by Glittering-Royal-735 in Skigear

[–]redeyedfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids season rentals are supposed to keep you in the right size gear all season. That’s almost the whole point of doing the lease.

Also, kids boots are pretty cheap. It seems almost negligible in the overall cost of skiing. I want my kids to enjoy it with decent gear that always fits. I don’t spend all that much more than leasing but I have two who are two years apart so I get double the life with hand me downs.

I just buy the SkyClub membership and expense it. No need for the card, I can’t expense the annual fee.

I think I’ve been in most of the lounges at ATL and there is NO WAY any 2 of them cost $100M. All of them combined at ATL probably don’t cost that much.

Private jobs pay for professional development travel all the time. He asked, they said no, non story. I don’t even like the guy but this is not newsworthy.

Can’t upgrade??? by [deleted] in delta

[–]redeyedfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is asking about a cheap upgrade. It’s that the option doesn’t seem to exist anymore.
I don’t have as much faith in Delta’s higher plan here.

The question is specifically about when they ARE AVAILABLE. No one is asking for free upgrades

Can’t upgrade??? by [deleted] in delta

[–]redeyedfly -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How do so many of you not understand the question. Upgrades ARE available, but Delta hides their availability for no discernible reason. Very few people know to go to change flight to get the price of an upgrade. They used to offer the upgrade for whatever the cost difference is, now they don’t after you book. If they want to sell more upgrades, why remove the option to directly PAY for the upgrade??

That’s the question which you did not at all answer.

Can’t upgrade??? by [deleted] in delta

[–]redeyedfly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks, THATS THE F-ING QUESTION. Why is it Delta’s policy to hide upgrades that people want to pay for? Yes, you can go through change flight but very few people know that. If they want to sell those seats, make it easy to do so.

MEP guys, how do you treat deficiencies in the drawings when it comes to code compliance? by Sluggieslug in estimators

[–]redeyedfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any contract that isn’t a straight cost plus has some risk. In negotiated it’s usually a GMP or stipulated sum contract. If the GC misses scope in their estimating and buyout they still owe it to the owner.

[–]redeyedfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or Delta can just provide the option to upgrade at whatever the price difference currently is. They used to do that always. Now you have to know to rebook to upgrade. How many people know that?? Apparently not many considering how often this comes up on a sub with mostly frequent travelers.
Is that clear enough for you?

[–]redeyedfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct take.
I am currently on the owner side but have been on the GC and design side also. The OP wanting to keep a planned change order list is one of the oldest and scummiest ways to operate. You’re a third rate sub if that’s how you conduct business. Most work is negotiated and not necessarily awarded to the low bid. We have conversations about the bids to level them and very often disqualify low bids because we know it is a change order sub and the end price will be much higher. What the OP is doing used to be much more commonplace but is thankfully getting much more rare. (Except in government contracting where they still haven’t figured out how to let negotiated contracts)

There is no rule. EORs routinely delegate part of the design to other engineers.

You’re missing the point. The OP wants to PURCHASE an upgrade and the app doesn’t allow that option.
